Got Jimmy Carr's DVDs and he's pretty good. Saw Russell Howard supporting Daniel Kitson a couple of years ago and he was excellent, but I'm not keen on his Mock the Week contributions.
Personally I'm not a huge Jimmy Carr stand up fan, he has his moments, but I think there are plenty who do it better.
Not sure on Russell Howard, only ever seen him on shows rather than his own stand up

RE: Russell Howard was on Live At The Apollo last night He the guy who sort of looks like a chubby Michael Owen? Guy who's on 8 out of 10 cats?
RE: Russell Howard was on Live At The Apollo last night Yeah. Does that 'Tonightly' show on a night which is class too.
Cheers all - I've got tickets for both at City Hall in October so fingers crossed both will be good nights. Cheers.
RE: Go and see Marcus Brigstocke Top call.
Re-watched his planet corduroy dvd t'other day. Some VERY funny moments.
Not managed to see him myself yet though, just pretty much everything he's been on TV wise...and always been impressed

RE: Go and see Marcus Brigstocke Saw him back in March, backed by some lass who's name passes me by - she was quite good too. Well observed bloke, and from time to time just degenerates into piss-taking which is always good.
RE: Go and see Marcus Brigstocke I just love his ranting...makes some good points though at the same time.
Thought his comments on 4x4s were good ('why would anyone want a picture of 2 rhinos fecking on the back of their car' then taking the piss outta posh people 'Oh but my drive's very steep don't you know'). And his ranting about loans companies and such like, and their stupid angled walks into shot.
Anyone you could recommend of similar ilk?

RE: Go and see Marcus Brigstocke Our lass could. I find 'right on' comedians a bit dull, but Brigstocke has a passion about him that is brilliant to witness.
Going to see Paddy McGuiness in September - i anticipate a different type of evening...

Now then young man Saw Russell Howard at Jongleurs just when he was starting out then at Latitude last year, very funny live show, seeing him again in November (front row seats).
Never seen Jimmy Carr but I'd go along. Saw Frankie Boyle the other week and I've only just got over it - the man takes comedy to places where you just don't think it should go (Maddy McCann jokes anyone?).

RE: Now then young man Frankie Boyle always has me in stitches. Very funny guy in my opinion, and really does like the push the boundaries in terms of what's 'acceptable'.
I've personally only ever seen 2 live shows - Bill Bailey who was genius, and Mitchell and Webb (peep show guys) who unfortunately didn't impress too much
