One of the most extraordinary games I've ever attended! Went with some of my Carlisle supporting mates to offer them some encouragement... looked dead and buried until goalkeeper Jimmy Glass came up for the corner with seconds remaining.. The rest , as they say, is history! Mate lost his phone and we had to drive back to the ground Wasn't such a lucky charm the year after ... went to the game where they were relegated.
I still vividly remember watching it on Final Score as a kid - can't imagine how much it would stick in the memory if you were actually there!
https://www.thesportsman.com/articl...s-keeper-saved-united-on-this-day-in-19991111 Scarborough have never recovered. That goal by Jimmy Glass was the start of a downfall they still haven't recovered from including losing their stadium and dropping down the leagues. I love Scarborough it's a beautiful place and Michael Coulson still plays for them. I hope we see them back in the Football League one day. Be a lovely place to go watch us in a pre season friendly.
It was a shame about Scarborough- visited there with my mate again for a Carlisle game. Can't take away what they achieved that day - incredible game of football
I can remember going to watch Scarborough play Derby County in a pre season friendly after County won the First Division the season before. 1972 maybe? Be good to see them back on the up.
Didn't realise that he was only on loan at Carlisle, he wasn't even their player. They didn't even reward him with a contract at the end of the season.....
