Can't see anything wrong with what he's said there. The stick I've seen him get for that is pretty pathetic.
" do you view Barnsley as your long term home?" Stifled snigger, followed by.... " I'd be lying if I said yes, I want to play at the highest level" I'll read into that, he'll be here til Jan, if he even starts the season here.
FFS. I don't know what's worse. The false 'long haul' stuff from Duff or this... "I'd be lying if I said yeah [that I view Barnsley as my long term home] because my ambition is to play in the Premier League." Says a player who was three games away from being promoted there with Barnsley two years ago! Very worrying that the culture around the club must be that there's no ambition to see the Premier League as a realistic destination.
I don’t think he’s said anything I disagree with in that interview. Other than perhaps becoming a premier league player.
A poor way to answer the question. He could've give it the old; "My ultimate aim is to play in the Premier League and I want to go as far as I can on that journey with Barnsley". He's just made himself look a little bit stupid, especially with the snigger.
How very dare he accept an interview! The cheek to admit he might be open to offers! He's only been here two minutes (well five seasons but whatever) and he wants out! This is why footballers either don't give interviews or just spout platitudes if they do.
Sorry, but League 1 is his level from what I’ve seen these past years. Gets caught out defensively, even in this League. He’s best at going forward, and his awareness and distribution around the box has improved.
I like Williams but premier is probably a touch ambitious but hey, got to believe in yourself. I don’t really hear the negativity from this. Pretty standard answers I’d say. I would’ve thought, or at least hoped, he’d be a player that we will keep, regardless if he signs an extension or not. Although I also thought we’d keep Collins for a season before losing him for free so who knows.
