    Okay. Interesting pompey red. I must have seen him play but can't remember him at all.

    I like the goalkeeper. Jack Walton. Think he's got a lot of attributes that will allow him to have a good career

    Also where does he play. At the top it says defender and nearer the bottom midfielder

    The top goalkeepers have a great presence. Make the goal look small. Good with ball at feet and communicate well. Also been able to pick out the cross and making things easier for the defenders.

    What about saving shots, headers, tidying up the bog rolls and stuff? Attributes?

    Not really. All goalkeepers can do that.

    Been tall's also important. Potential to be 6'4. A lot of the top clubs won't entertain you if you aren't

    Clive Baker was an excellent keeper and he was small by goalkeeping standards. I wonder if he'd have still made it in the modern game.

    Before his time. Important attribute, being able to tidy up a bog roll and chuck it behind your goal without looking tw4t. Tough skill to master...

    Have you stood next to our goalkeeper coach. Really small.

    Was told at Manchester United they actually tests how tall you are going to be.

    Remember it well. Sophisticates used to tear up news paper to throw when we scored. Flares hadn't been invented then. Less said about Neanderthal wing throwing bananas at Deane and Agana the better

    So saving shots is not an attribute for a goalie? And scoring goals is not an attribute for a striker?

    But being 6'4 is important? Dammit, 2 more inches and I would have been entertained by a top club.. Life's a bitch...:(

    That would be a shame because if they disregard keepers just based on height then keepers like Baker would fall out of the system. I still think he'd be a quality keeper in this era of athletes and giants.

    Aye, that started after the 1978 world cup. I've been shredding my Guardian from about 6 years old. Broadsheet back then n'all, more carnage!! But less supplements which I suppose evens it out.
