Do you think Davey would be getting the same support from some quarters to keep him in if we had'nt just had such an abysmall turnover iof managers. Not saying he should be sacked btw (definiteley agree with Jay though that he cannot be allowed to keep buying players and then just either falling out with them or ignoring them) Its just that the vast majority of support for him seems to finish with we can't keep sacking managers and need some stability as if that is the main reason for keeping him.
Yes because a run of bad results doesn't make him a bad manager, we was always going to come across a bad run and this is it, we are still higher than last year which was surely the aim.
Can it not be argued that he has just had a fairly long run of good/fortunate results before this? As it isn't 'just' a run of bad results that he is criticised for, it is foolish spending of money (900k = 3 goals) and the way that his players seem to dissappear off the face of the planet
It's an excellent point NYR - alhough Davey has got my support he needs to come out fighting now and show his qualities to stabilise the situation again. Otherwise, people like me won't blindly support him for ever. Back to your point - the fact we have had 10 other managers in 10 years is 100% irrelevant. Each manager should be judged in isolation and against the backdrop of the clubs position, progess, use of resources made available and how the players react to him both in training and on the pitch. He should not have more (or less) time based on the number of previous managers we have had. Radio Dee Dah regulalry tro the 'you can't keep sacking managers' nonsense but if a manager isn't up to it, then he isnt up to it. End of. Mindst you, I think most of us forget more about football in a day than Rad Dee Dah will ever know!
The fact we are higher than this time last year means Jack. Yes, if we were suddenly playing well, strengthening the sqaud after a very slow start I woud agree. Onwards and upwards. But we are not. We are quickly going downhill and any fan is right to be concerned.
RE: Can it not be argued that he has just had a fairly long run of good/fortunate results before thi Well yes I suppose, but having watched performances such as Wolves, Bristol City and Watford I don't think we are a million miles off a decent side, we have shown potential and if we could get Macken and De Silva we could do well for last half of season.
