Had to laugh when I saw they'd given him a 3 1/2 year contract, he'll walk out after 3 1/2 months and do his Regie Perrin impression again.
The previous Newcastle board f*cked it up... ... and this one is doing the same only with significantly more delusion. Nice little earner for Kevin though. How long will it be before he says sorry, but I can't hack this, I'm off.
He's only taken the job because his Glasgow based soccer circus is struggling... ...mate of mine takes his kids and has seen King Kev trying to drum up business walking around xscape. Half the young uns up here have never heard of him. He appeared on Scottish TV a few months back trying to promote it and died a death when the presenters ripped it out of him for being English. Had to laugh when it showed that recent interview he did with Gabby Yorath. "The last game of football I watched was my last match at Manchester City" Blimey, he'll be stuck in a time warp and he'll be signing Shaun Goater next!
I think he genuinely loves the place and might just have forgotten why he walked away from City having seen what the modern footballer is all about these days. I hope he does well, nothing would please me more than to see Newcastle put one over Man United, and to see KK stick it to Sir Alex.
Have to say, my new hate for Newcastle has been diluted by Keegan's appointment. I have nothing but respect for Keegan. And I understand that doesn't make him a genius manager, I genuinely love his passion. When he quit England, he went up in my estimation.
Agree the Premiership has gone so sterile with personality-less foreign managers getting the majority of the coverage, painful to listen to pigeon English after match interviews from the likes of Benitez. MOTD will be worth watching for him alone, and his brand of football is infinately watchable for neutrals, bring on the 4-3 games against Liverpool, I might switch on again.
