After watching last night I think he will fancy his chances of getting into that back 3. And I think Morris the same with the front 3. Healthy competition.

He will need to get past Sibbick first. Id expect Morris will find it easier to get a regular start as Frieser and Chaplin arent as good up front as our central defenders are at the back

Not sure he’s in direct competition for sibbick. If Kitching gets in, it will be because VI feels he can do a better job on the left of three than Andersen, while sibbick will be competing with sollbauer on the other side.

Here’s what I don’t understand but looks obvious from recent substitutions. Why is it Sibbick is competing with Sollbauer when the latter could play at the centre of the back three?

Helik and Madds could both make way for Sibbick and Kitching if we chose to go down that route. Saying that though, as much as their chuckle brother antics infuriated me last night (for the second time live on Sky), I think Madds has been our best defender this season overall and Helik has adapted really well. We’re a difficult team to score against in open play.

and the easiest to score against in set pieces - not sure if thats down to the players or the system though
Definitely an area we need to improve

I know what you mean. Normally, sollbauer would be in the middle of the three, organising. But this particular back three system expects two CBs to act as full backs as well, while the central player is expected to win more headers. Can’t imagine Helik or Halme defending wide, and Andersen struggles.

So I guess sollbauer is the only option on the right, and might not have the physical presence to be in the middle.
