Liam Roberts appreciation thread

Let's show Liam some love. If Middlesbrough' got two better than him I would like to see them get him signed permanent please.

 

Certainly a super stopper.

 

I’ve shown him lots of love already on here in previous weeks but will do again.

Early days but he’s better than what we had last season and probably better than what we’ve had for a while to be honest.

Great shot stopper, good at distributing the ball and also seems passionate when we score or win.

Love to get a permanent deal sorted out.

 

Great you can be a founder member of the love Liam gang. I think his kicking is his weak link but I'm not pep so it doesn't matter.

 

Just said in another thread, but it's a balancing act in January. If we go to try and sign him and Middlesborough ask for a fee, it's gonna be wasted money with him out of contract in the summer anyway. Maybe worth it though to avoid an Isted situation or maybe they'll let us have him for free to get him off the wage bill

 

The lad has had an excellent start to his Barnsley career.

 

It would be really good if we were in a position in January to sign him. Quality keeper.

 

He's been brilliant so far and hopefully we can afford to keep him permanently.

 

Sometimes his footwork can be slightly lacking but I think his throws out and sometimes “side winder” (I’m not sure if there’s a technical term for this, that’s how I know them) kicks out often hit their targets.

I’m happy to be a founding member. I just hope it’s a club that can last for a few years and not just this season!

Imho definitely our most consistent performer....another very good performance today, dunno where we would be without him, almost forgot we had 2 first class keeper's last season

 

Knew even from Port Vale game he was a class act and keeps impressing more and more with each week that passes. Some of the saves he makes are outstanding.

 

Let’s hope we don’t fail to sort out an actual deal rather than waiting for the season to end

 

And we were all wanting Isted.

I think we’ve got the better out of the two based on what I’ve seen so far.

 

Been fantastic for us - perhaps it may turn out to be a blessing in disguise for us with Isted going Charlton, would love if we were able to spend a little of this money we've made on a permanent transfer for him in Jan

 

It takes two clubs plus the player to make a deal. Unless Boro are strapped for cash why would they do a deal at this point in time? Ditto the player. Stellar season with us and he has options.
By all means if we want him give it a try. I'm sure we will. Doesn't mean we'll get him though.

 

Yeah I really hoped we could have signed Isted or kept Collins, one or the other. But now we've got one in who so far has looked better than the two of them combined lol.
Btw this might sound like a weird question, did Isted really want to play for us, or was it Duff who he liked playing for actually.

 

we have had some really good keepers this last decade... and Liam might just be the bestesest of them all...

 

They won't want loads for him, so if we can secure him for £200k in January rather than risk losing him in the summer, it's not a tough decision.
