A little bit late posting this on the Trust site but for those interested: http://bfcst.org.uk/lindley-catering-update/ We've also done a bit of mystery shopping at the Charlton and Southampton game and found : East Stand Kiosks didn't have any burgers, any hotdogs and some pies at 2.15-2.30ish at the Charlton game There was draft beer available in the East Stand. Coke we sampled was ice cold. Ponte ENd didn't ahve any burgers or hotdogs before half time in the ponte end and then ran out quickly at half time. Last night the Ponte ENd didn't have any burgers ready. Still no beer in the Ponte end. Any other observations?
They have a strange practice in the east of filling the fridge before a game then emptying it at kick off putting the tiniest in a warm room...
The Balti Pies still fall apart at the first contact, which is no change from last season. Cornish Pasties still absent from the menu. If anything has improved since last season then they've done a good job of hiding it.
Catering isn't bad for those wanting to get fat on burgers, chips etc. Not so good for our healthy eaters. It's not hard to cater to them. Have some pasta cooking facilities, put it in one of them burger containers you get in most takeaways and give a choice of a few toppings like cheese sauce, grated cheese etc. How many veggie items are on the menu?
I'm not being funny, but why would you invest money like that in to catering for less than 1% of your customers? Invest your money in making the experience better for the 99% of customers you have so they spend more and spend it more often.
New pie and pint signs in Ponty (despite no beer) still imply crisps in the meal deal and are unwanted
Oh and the northern manager told is the token system and buggy were a great success at Sunderland and have since told you they weren't
Not sure I can understand the reply re local sourced pork pies - especially on cost basis. Percy Turner's pies which seems to be amongst the fans favourites retail at 65p in the shop and 70p at other outlets. (These other outlets can make a profit because I believe discounts are available when purchasing more than 20 pies. ) Lets assume that discount is about 20%, the cost to Lindleys would be 52p. Currently pies are sold at about £3. Are they saying there isn't enough profit in them at that?
Well I've just had an email back from Lindlies stating that the cheapest they could find was £1. Not sure where they were looking! Need to get some prices from some of the local suppliers.
01226 743721 Percy's number He provides them for my neighbour who does catering for various events etc and I know he gives a discount for bulk and regular orders pie and peas for £3 surely enough profit in that, if they need help sourcing mushy peas its time for them to give up..
i would love us to be able to offer individual style catering as opposed to bland mass market burgers and hot dogs ... fish and chips... pie and peas etc something with a local twist however i can see why lindleys and 99% of other sporting events keep it simple... costs and overheads low = less hassle and more profit its a wining formula over time however it does nothing to tempt the floating customer. they obviously have enough regular customers who buy the burgers and pies as it is or they would have changed long ago.... vote with your wallets , keep them in your pocket and keep your mouth shut... literally !!
Have tried calling a couple of times. WIll try again tomorrow. Had a price off Potters and D.Speed of monkbretton much cheaper than a quid.
I think they are closed for holidays at the minute. Its only the butchers that closes though, they keep making the pies Try ringing in the morning
the staff are just plain thick !, I asked for a steak and kidney pie, they gave me chips, I said no a pie please, sorry they're not ready, but that guys got one, yes they're ready in those ovens but not this one, well get me one from one of those ovens, ahh yes ok, but what about your chips............................... **** off !
Could be. Have heard back about the bar also "Licence - This is still with the solicitors. The licence has been submitted to the council and Police but we all know about red tape. There is usually a hearing 28 days from submission."
We got a licence at the cricket club, including live music indoors and outdoors, entertainment, discos etc. It was a doddle. I did it myself in my spare time. Bit of form filling, print some blue notices, argue with the neighbours who thought we were going to have outdoor U2/Springstein concerts on Sunday afternoons, go to the licence committee meeting, job done.
