One of the best finishers I ever saw at Oakwell. His 4 goals were sublime. Only 58, far too young. R,IP Gianluca
Awfully sad news. RIP. I was in hospital when they played us at Oakwell. Felt like every 5 minutes someone would say "they've scored again. Vialli again"
I’m ashamed to say I didn’t even know he was ill again, I’d thought he’d beaten the ******* disease. Takes too many too young. What a player he was, enjoy your rest sir.
After his Oakwell performance ya could hate him and love him at the same time..far too young and always seemed a decent bloke when interviewed...
Excellent coach as well. Chelsea wouldn't have moved up to the next level if he hadn't taken on what Ruud Gullit had started. I know Abramovich brought in his billions but Vialli had already put Chelsea on the map with the cup success and style of football. R.I.P
Awful news. He always seemed like one of the good guys. Easy to warm to. Sad that he’s gone before his mum, no parent should have to bury their child.
RIP Gianluca. Remember watching him on Gazetta Football Italia (channel 4) and he was probably the best striker I saw at Oakwell. His goal from their keeper's throw in front of the Ponty..... just WOW!
I hadn't realised he was ill, so this news has come as a shock to me. I doubt that anyone who was at Oakwell to witness his 4 goals against us in the infamous 0-6 defeat to Chelsea will ever forget him. We'd held our own in the Premier League reasonably well prior to that point against West Ham, Palace and Bolton. That game was the first time we saw world class players tear us apart, of which his was the stand-out performance on the day. RIP Gianluca Vialli.
