It's a funny thing. I thought we were decent last night. Well up until the final third and we looked clearly lacking that little bit of quality.

I think we're getting the rub of the green a little at the minute. It's been log overdue. I put our poor form earlier in the season partially down to bad luck. Some games, Shrewsbury sticks out, we were having 25 shots, hitting the woodwork 3 or 4 times, and getting punished for every single error we made. Now, we don't seem to be playing entirely differently, but we're getting the results.

I'm not suggesting for a second that we were lucky last night. We should have put the game to bed before they went down to 10 men, and certainly in those 5 minutes after when their heads seemed to be all over the place. We were good value for our win, even if we left it late. But we do seem to be getting the rub of the green a little. Last week against Oldham, we seemed to lack that cutting edge, and I felt we needed a stroke of luck just to see us over the line; their defender provided that. Last night, we'd missed some glorious chances, particularly the header Roberts had, which was as free a header I think I've ever seen. I'd say Alnwick made some good stops, but the vast majority were hit at him, or purely just hit him. For us then to win it in the 90th minute, with what was the polar opposite of the Roberts chance, was something incredible.

I think playing away from home suits us better, so I fancy us to beat United at the weekend, leaving us needing a win at home to Colchester, which is completely achievable. Whilst it might come down to the wire, 2 wins from the next 2 give us every chance of clinching that top 6 spot, and going into the play-offs with a lot of momentum.

Good post. We've certainly not played to anywhere near our capabilities recently but we've ground out wins in games we'd have lost or drawn earlier in the season, despite missing some huge chances.

I would love us to go to Bramall Lane, play them off the park and win by a few clear goals, as I think we could at our absolute best. But I'd be just as happy with a scrappy, ballsy 1-0 win, with the winner deflecting in off Jay McEveley's arse. Points are all that matter at this stage.
