I guess the days of turning the boiler off in winter for the away team are over, but I guess they're referring to the basic environs of Kenilworth Road as opposed to the plush, modern facilities that most Prem teams/players are now used to. As for the pitch, it's the old FA Cup potential giantkiller at home argument - the stands are much closer to the pitch than the average Premier League stadium; visiting players may feel uncomfortable etc. etc. Then again, there is an argument that they are up against elite players who are arguably levels above. So I predict similar to you, I don't think it will matter too much, and I think they'll go straight back down. Be nice to see them stay up though, at least for another season.

I think most people considered him a very classy player that could easily progress to a higher level. He didn’t go directly from League One to the Premier League either.

It was no coincidence either that Oldham got worse from the mid 90s onwards, after going back to normal grass.
