I'd imagine our shortlist would look something like: - Martin Devaney - Daniel Stendel - Mick McCarthy - Darren Moore - Danny Cowley - Nigel Clough - Several random foreign managers I've never heard of
A lot of Wednesday fans said that when they thought they were in with a shout of luring Duff to S6. In fairness to Duff the first half of the season he was trying to get the team gelling and his preferred formation didn't work with the personnel he had to work with. Unlike Moore he was working with a squad he needed to get to know and they him whereas Moore had the advantage of continuity, something of a rare commodity at Oakwell in recent seasons.
Duff is certainly better and I reckon he'd have got top 2 if he was at Fowls with that squad but my point was that surely Moore and his football isn't that bad given the stats of their season.
Sunak will be available soon. Though I reckon the Press Conference after a routine way defeat at Port Vale would be interesting as he would go off at a tangent and start talking about stopping small boats.
I wouldn't disagree about Moore's stats last season. And let's face it he also guided them to the play-offs the season prior to that. He did it with a much bigger transfer budget than he'd be granted at Oakwell in the same division. I'd prefer to look to his record at Doncaster who were in the play-off positions when he left them to head to S6 and the budget at the Keepmoat was probably a fairer reflection of how he'd cope at Oakwell although this was also the second season he'd been at the helm there. It keeps coming around to continuity, something we rarely see at Oakwell.
I don't think he'd be a bad option if he was appointed but I think it there are better options. Don't think it would matter anyway as I don't think he'd take it if he was offered it.
