RE: Do you like any players? Talent alone doesn't make a player good. It makes him potentially good. The rest is down to heart, effort and attitude. Of the three players mentioned, IMHO, only Devany so far, has shown enough of the other three attributes to satisfy me. You obviously are easily pleased. I wonder though, just to turn an argument around, how happy would you be if we weren't managing to scrape through these games and weren't picking up the lucky points that we are doing at the moment. You see the difference is that my judgement of a player isn't coloured by the results that we get, only by the performance that they deliver, win, lose or draw.
RE: Do you like any players? I understand what you're getting at, but if McPhail for example isn't doing enough, how come we've missed him so much in the last two games? Did you go to Bradford away? McPhail put in a complete midfielder's performance without much support in the centre after Howard was sent off. He didn't have Burns to 'look after him' or whatever, he ran the centre of the pitch single handedly.
RE: Do you like any players? No I didn't see the match at Bradford so I can't and won't comment on it. I can only rely on reports from people who have been to those games. The difficulty is, that when those reports are put forward by people who obviously have a different view on what is good or bad in the game, it isn't easy to give them any credulity. All I can say and infact all I've ever said in any of my postings about BFC players is based on what I have seen and what I believe to be either a good or a bad performance or series of performances. I am just as much a fan of the club as anyone else on here and I am just as keen for the club to be successful. However, I refuse to get carried away by an occasional "super" goal or 10 min spell in a game by certain players, when their overall performances are IMO below par.
