HEARTBROKEN BUT THE LADS WILL NOT LET ANYONE DOWN - STEPHEN

DEJECTED and downbeat after more injury heartbreak, midfielder Stephen McPhail is facing up to the reality of sitting out the biggest home match of the season so far.

The Republic Of Ireland international is struggling with a torn calf muscle but believes the rest of the squad will lift his spirits with victory over Doncaster Rovers at Oakwell tomorrow.

Stephen said: "It is a massive disappointment to miss this match because I had worked all month to be fit and raring to go to face Doncaster. I knew there something was just not right at Burnley and I was given the bad news the next day. It is a calf tear and it is gutting to miss such a big game.

"I had a small tear in my calf after the Swansea match but thought things had calmed down and I had not problems in training right up to Tuesday. I felt great but felt my calf tighten up in the warm up and it just got worse through the game. It is very disappointing but I am looking forward to be back in three weeks.

"I am totally frustrated with life at the moment and feel like killing someone. The last season has really been a nightmare and I have never really got going as a Barnsley player. It is frustrating because I want to play football and want to do well here. I am trying to be positive and I hope that the lads can just keep winning. That is all I am looking forward to over the next three weeks while I am on the sidelines.

"Barnsley fans have not seen the best of me yet that's for sure. I thought I started the new season well and was fitter than I had been for a while. I had a great pre-season and was looking forward to playing a lot of games to really show the supporters what I can do. Hopefully this latest setback can make me a bit stronger and I will come back a better player".

He added: "Everybody here is up for this game big time. This is a massive game for us and we want to get all three points. Doncaster will have to come here and be really on top of their game if they are going to get anything because we are well up for it.

"We know it is a local derby and we know just how much it means to the supporters. We disappointed them twice last season and we owe them a result this time around.

"Any local derby is always going to have a few flames flying around and a lot of things happened last season to really spice this game up. It is up to us to stand up and I am sure that the lads will not let anyone down.

"This is the time for us to kick on. This will be massive three points if we can get them because we want to be bang into the promotion chase".

Could be Kay and Burns if Carbon and Reid are fit.

    RE: Devaney and Shuker

Time to step up to the mark, men of Barnsley.

I just hope the fine words of this week are put into action come 3.00pm.

I shall be half pissed - enough to be lairy, but not enough to invade the pitch.
