Messaged my nephew at 1-1 saying we’d win. Thing is, this division is crap, and it shouldn’t take much this season to get out of it. The Board need to know that this season is a huge opportunity. Might not be so easy next year.
Totally agree with this, I know that Kane,Styles, Williams and Cole have had stick recently but there's no way we will be better without them next season.
Imho Styles man of the match today....although much better in first half. Cole and Williams not at it today but I shudder to think (bearing in mind our summer recruitment) who we would replace them with.
What a performance. I reckon we could have won a lot more comfortably today with a bit more composure. Collins getting some stick, can't see why. Patience in both boxes and should have had more goals. Buzzing.
It was the linesman on the east side that confirmed it with the ref. Think it touched one of our players or something before getting to Jalo that made him offside. Think it might have been the right call unfortunately
The division is statistically more competitive than last year, even with an additional point. After we'd played 21 games last year there were: 3 teams with more points than we had. This season after 21 games there are 6 teams with more points than we have.
We might be picking up points. We might be in a decent enough position. Do I like what I see, absolutely not. But we should be in a better position than we are. And I put that to Collins. I don't think it's good enough personally
Great to see we've ridden ourselves of the ability to earn points when concededing first. However last year we got away with it simply because we were great at getting the first goal, but when we didn't we were: W0 D2 L12 This season we're: W2 D3 L4 So on the downside we're not getting the first goal, which is super important. Only 3 teams in the division last year averaged more than a point when conceding first.
Oh and btw. Our kid managed to bag our old seats in the pointy end today. He managed to recognise one person. A young lass and her dad who is still there. He looked around for familiar faces and they aren't there. He messaged me to simply say he misses it. And actually named @Jay and @JLWBigLil as the people he misses too. Snuffled me a tad tbh. Cos he's right. I miss it too
Maybe, but put Mads back in that defence and we're arguably a couple of wins better off and 6 points or more higher up the table.
Haha, maybe. We must sort something one day to all meet up again. These 2 have shall we say, grown a lot since we last saw you. My dad always looks out for your posts on here too. So if one day you feel up to attending a game and we can sort it, more than happy to do so
For all the ''Collins out, because he's sh*it'' type posters, a bit of perspective is needed here once again. Whether we regard Stevenage as one of the good teams, they were on a very good unbeaten run and could have gone 2nd today. And despite starting terribly again, we've done well to fight back and beat them. I said on here recently that I think we're nicely placed in the league table, at this stage of the season, and that's still the case. And depending on if we have a good January 'window' or not, theres still every chance of us making it into the Play offs again (and then anything can happen!).
I thought so too. But Cosgrove got a touch/flick on after the initial pass through to Jalo. And then Jalo was offside at that point. Marginally. https://x.com/the_mannster/status/1738607204654289189?s=42
My interpretation watching it was that the referee didn't look happy with the late flag, but equally I can't see what else would have taken that long. Good job we won anyway, or I could see this one running and running!
Are the refs and linesman micd up to each other? If so then I suspect that after the goal the lino asked the ref for clarification on whether he touched it.
