Can anyone remember how many tickets we were allocated for the Play Off Final? I've just been thinking about our forthcoming semi-final & the mad scramble that I expect to ensue & that fans who have to wait until the go on general sale are worrying that they'll miss out. I think the allocation was pretty much similar & I think that distribution for that game was run along similar lines. I appreciate that we've now probably got a higher number of season ticket holders that we had at that time that COULD lead to a higher uptake of tickets before general sale i.e. an extra 2,000 or so holders taking 4 tickets each does account for a sizeable chunk but I then thought about the Play Off Final at Wembley. I'm sure then that our number of season ticket holders was WAY higher than it is now & again I think the distribution was similar & yet we failed to sell our full allocation of tickets. I wasn't online at that time so I don't know if there was any kind of mass panic regarding tickets for that match, which was ultimately unfounded, but maybe someone who reads this has been around long enough to remember.
55,419 Was the attendance at that final.
Swansea took more than us, around 30k I reckon. We took around 25 and there were a lot of empty seats in our end.
I really wouldn't panic. We are to be allocated 30k seats to begin with, rising to 33k if needed. I doubt we will take anything like that, especially to a semi, where if we win, similar expense will be incurred a month later. The final, if we get there, might be a different proposition, but I really doubt that we would get 33,000 followers even then.

I think we'll easily fill Wembley Much easier to get to from Barnsley. Everyone in Barnsley has watched our heroics. The new Wembley is something else. The prize is a place in the final of the most famous cup competition in the world not just a place in the old second division.
My thoughts exactly I'm not panicking, I'm a season ticket holder. I'm just trying to understand why some people are. Based on the Millenium Stadium experience, everyone who want's one will get one & probably some will get sent back. I thought that it might be fair to compare Wembley some years earlier when we had more season ticket holders & therefore, in theory, fewer tickets making it to general sale when again, we failed to sell our full allocation!
It's gonna be an expensive do, and.... .... hopefully will have to be repeated a month later.
Do you really believe that so many drifters will be willing to fork out close on £100 per person twice in a month, cos I have my doubts like.

I think so, most people who are going haven't spent a thing on footy for years People are forgeting about the romance of the cup. Mention playoffs to your average non supporting football fan and they'll shrug their shoulders, then mention the FA Cup and everyone knows about it. Not many people have visited the new Wembley yet and this gives them the perfect opportunity to go. I've noticed far more people wanting to go than went to Cardiff.
To see Barnsley at Wembley... I'd fork out a grand per person! I'm sure we'll easily sell our tickets, FA Cup fever has hit Barnsley, and it's fantastic.
Ok - I take both your points You may be right, I certainly hope so. I hope we fill it to the brim and the payback, whatever happens,is a better following next season accompanied by a serious push for the top. Bring it on.
You're right when we got to cardiff and wembley the nationals didn't make much of it, but now we've not been out of the papers for a month nearly. Even the TV channels are going mad about it, everyone and their dog wants a piece of the action. If you talk to anybody from outside Barnsley they are banging on about our cup run, that's never happened before. We are suddenly WORLD FAMOUS
what you rather watch league 1 play off at cardiff fa cup semi final at wembley i think we will sell out no problem.
Totally agree, this is the big boys territory Playoffs are for the clubs who are not big boys and that's why media attention has been so huge compared to the playoffs.
I disagree slightly The Play Offs are great entertainment, and the Championship Play Off gets a lot of attention. I get what you mean regarding the League One and Two Play Offs though. Still, THE FA CUP SEMI FINALS! BARNSLEY AT WEMBLEY! (england)
Champ Playoff do get attention but not the sort of attention this had received, and we've probably got more than the other 3 semi finalists due to the last 2 rounds.
RE: Champ Playoff do get attention we have got noticed all over the world for the cup run and the final is beamed to just about every country.
I think That anyone who doesn't think we'll take significantly more to FA Cup semi-final than we did to a League 1 play-off final is a bit daft. Sorry, but I do.
also.. an excuse for people to take the kids to london and show them the sights before the game. unlike cardiff (sh1thole)
Fair comment But do you think we'll take significantly more than we took to Wembley in 2000 for the Play Off Final for promotion to the Premiership? We were quite some way short of selling our full allocation for a match that would have sealed promotion back amongst the big boys. More importantly, is the number of tickets allocated different to that game?
The prize on offer that day was a place BACk in the PL Which we'd all been part of and loved a few years before. The prize on offer now is something no living Barnsley fan will have seen unless we have some 110 year old fans, a place in the FA Cup final. I think our allocation was 36000 at the scruffy old Wembley and we fell sort of that by a few thousand fans.
So At a time when we probably had more season ticket holders than now, each of whom were allowed to buy the same number of tickets than they can now, we didn't sell out. Sort of confirms what I've been thinking all along. No need to panic, easily enough tickets will be on general sale for those who want one & can't get one earlier.
We'll have to see but i'm pretty confident it will easily sell out It's the FA Cup and everyone want a piece of the action
