I support two teams in sport, Barnsley and Featherstone Rovers.

I have posted some of the good things fev are doing on here before and got silly comments like "why would want to go to Featherstone. Well it's seems quite a few people from Barnsley do because at a fans forum the other week the chief exec said they had about 50 new season ticket holder from Barnsley. This is due to the community work which is now extending into the Barnsley area and hey are set to do a lot more. Including visiting schools etc.

as great as it is to see the good things at fev it really pisses me of to se them showing puma much much bigger club in Barnsley Fc.

Fev's chairman is a local business man and ex player. He's not pumping his own money into the club just using his no how business sense. He has put together a fantastic board of directors who a really working hard. One thing they have got is a vision and a direction. As soon as you walk up to post office road the first thing you see is a huge banner saying Destination Super League.

They recently added a good marketing guy to the board and where approached by the person the following link who offered his services, he is now a director. http://featherstonerovers.net/article.php?id=26711

one thing they area very good at are making generating money . In November in last year they had a fans forum to meet the new players and ask questions, the club house was almost full. 3 weeks later they had a shirt launch to show off the new kit. The club again was heaving and I couldn't get a seat. They sold well over 300 shirts in the one night. Next week they are have a night to reveal the squad numbers again no doubt it will be packed.

On match days everything Featherstone sell is there's burgers, pints the lot. Many of he bars around the ground run by parents of the scholarship players who take it in turns.

now this week featherstonerovers have just announced huge investment by a guy who as also just joined Blackburn rorovers who says he wants to make Featherstone a top 6 team.

    Well worth a read

    Shows what can be done.

I really wish BFC would invest in a team of people to market the club properly. We know we can't compete financially in terms of attracting players, so let's give our home grown kids a chance, and make ourselves a proper Community Club.

When all the clubs are collapsing around us cos football has finally gone t**ts up, we'll be in a good place to move forward.

Is that after Feisal jumped from Halifax, then to CAS, where i believe he still owes sponsorship money, and does he mean top 6 in the championship.

I always admired Featherstone in the years I watched RL,unfortunately the Maurice Lindsays of this world dealt them a very poor hand, nice to see them still going when the intention of Super League was for teams like them to go off and die quietly.

The membership scheme he put in place at Wigan and which is on progress at fev would have been at Cas. He spent time and money setting it up and Cas decided to go with someone else.

the membership scene is pretty good. I get 10 quid a month from the asda just for being a fev member and doing my usual shop at asda. Obviously fev and Faisal also get a cut
