North Stand - Ashley Ward End. It was his transfer fee that paid for it.

    Well BRF

I've been to alot of away grounds in my life and increasingly they all honour their heroes.

    We don't

There's summat wrong here, as we are quite emotional / proud fellas that would like this???

    RE: Well BRF

We really should. People don't realise how good Tommy Taylor was - one of the genuine all time great English strikers. He was awesome for us, had a much better strike rate for Man U that Dennis Law (in fact his strike rate was better than most strikers - including Jimmy Greaves and Geoff Hurst) and his goal to game tally for England was better than anyone full stop. The tragedy of his death is not remembered properly at all. We have one lousey plaque on the wall for him when he should have a statue or a stand at least.

When I look at what other clubs have done for their greats, it pisses me off actually.

    Correct BRF

It's something that's been at the back of mind for a while now.

Surely there's not a club in the Prem/Champ without a stand named after a past hero, except us????

Have any of the top clubs got stands named after players?

There's enough individuals to choose from in order to do so eg :-
    Reverend Preedy
    Harry Tuffnell
    Johnny Steele
    Danny Blanchflower
    Tommy Taylor
    Arthur Kaye
    Eric Winstanley
    Barry Murphy
    Ronnie Glavin
The older, traditional names (Ponty End/Brewery Stand/Spion Kop) for me represent the old, terraced Oakwell, not the stadium we have in the 21st Century.
If I was given the choice, I'd pick out Reverend Tiverton Preedy, Johnny Steele, Tommy Taylor & Ronnie Glavin as the names for the four stands.
    Just my opinion.
