My personal opinion is that I'm happy with the stands been sponsored. 3 are new anyway and are tagged East etc. The West is beautiful. For the sum we could get for a ground sponsorship I personally would like it. I'm a traditionalist. It's a last stand (pardon the pun) before it all disappears IMHO

i still refer to ponty, west, east & north. i can't see that changing because of the sponsorship. for the same reasons, i also can't see naming rights ever changing me calling it oakwell. if the £ and the company is right, why not.

It's just the way I think. As time goes on all the little things that made me love footy are disappearing. I still refer to the Ponty and West. But how many call the East the Brewery? Or the away end the Spion Kop? Not many if any. IMHO it's just another step to our history becoming unattainable.

Your post shows the disappearance is already on us. East & North?!? I don't know how old you are but I rest my case.

Ha ha. I'm just a 41 year old 'old school'. Love history rather than progress and change. It's just me.

    I call em:

Ponty End, West Stand, East Stand and Away End.

My first few seasons were int Brewery Stand but I dunno why I now call it East.

    Maybe thaz a point, Gazlar?

We're at the bottom of a slippery slope. I know I wouldn't expect my lad to refer to them as he never knew them as such. Like I said I'm all for heritage and history which I don't think we/BFC celebrate enough.

What for £100m? every day and twice on a Sunday. For naming rights and that's it ? with no other influence on the club ? They could call it the Kevin Blackwell Stadium for me, it's only a name and to protect the soul, we'd still call it Oakwell

For £100mill you could call me Mr Sheff Weds! (not really) But lets get real. We'll never know what coin is involved. My point is that if it was £100mill then do I want that?!? No. We'd spend it trying to get back to the PL and either do it, or fail. I personally don't want to be a Man City or Chelsea. Again, that's maybe just me.....

I think we should actively pursue sponsorship. We will take money from any company to sponsor the ground - provided its Oakwell taxis, Oakwell Hall, Oakwell Brewery or the Oakwell Guest House in Blackpool

It's been Just Sport for the last two seasons using Nike from a catalogue and now still Just Sport with Avec, which is their own brand.

Not for me. We are a traditional club. Our ground is our ground. Let's not chase the few quid we would get.

Would be another nail in the twitching corpse of the beautiful game for me.
