Got a new PC, it's supposed to have 4 gig of RAM (4096 Mb) but checking on the control panel it says 3326 Mb. The numbers don't make sense in terms of what memory could have been put in rather than 4 1 Gig sets....is it just how Vista operates in that it's already accounted for about 700 Mb and doesn't display it? Similarly - should be a 500 Gig hard drive but only shows about 465 Gig
Vista 32bit will only show 3326 Mb as memory - the 64 bit will show and use all the 4gb The Hard Drive once formatted is always lower as the drive size given is UNFORMATTED.
Ah ok - cheers! Does that mean it was pointless getting 4 Gig as it can't use it all, or does it still use but only display 3326?
no really,if you wanted it to show you had 4gb you just need to get more ram, i'm no computer buff by any stretch of imagination but its the operating system that takes it up
As far as im aware Vista 32 bit can only handle upto 4Gb of memory (that includes Ram and Graphics etc) I have Visa 64 bit with 4Gb and a 512 Mb Graphics and it shows and uses all. Upto now i have hand no problems at all with compatability issues with any software etc, but the only thing i have had an issue with is a Wirelss USB, as i need to find one that is compatable with 64 bit Vista I would not worry too much regarding your issue as im not sure that they might have fixed the problem with SP1 (dont quote me on this), as not had a reply back from a friend who is running 32bit Vita with 4Gb Ram and 512 Graphics also.
