I think we could do a lot worse than Hecky/Wright until at least the end of the season, however if the right guy is out there I think the club should do their homework and go get them. Just like they did with LJ.

The system the club has put in place needs a young hungry "head coach" that can relate to the players and improve them every day on the training pitch. I have seen nothing so far to suggest that Hecky is not that guy, but the spotlight has only just been put on him and he openly admitted Sunday was a result of carrying on the good work LJ had already done. The powers that be will already know if Hecky has the substance to step up right now.

I wondered if anyone knows much about Chris Wilder?

I looked at Northampton storming League 2 and thought someone must be doing a good job! Turns out he took Oxford into the football league and guided them into the playoffs before leaving for Northampton, who are now running away with it. From Sheffield too.

£100k compensation to get the right guy is money well spent.

Wilder is too big a risk for me. I also dont think he's suitable for what we're after.

He's done well but he's never managed or coached above League 2.

This season he's grouped together a squad of very experienced players. I think the average age of their starting 11 is often 27-28. There isn't a player in their squad in their teens and I think they have one lad below 23. He's not really shown he can develop and nurture youth.

I dont think we can look past Hecky. He'll be more than willing to buy into the Head Coach role. He's suited to developing and working with youth as thats his current role. The questions would be how is he as a tactician, motivator and how does he deal with pressure. I think its defintely worth giving him a shot at answering those questions over the next 4 month.

Well, Rotherham are definitely interested in taking him on.

Fair enough. Until last night I knew nothing about him as a manager and that only stretched to his success at Oxford and Northampton.

The next appointment is vital though and although i'm not ruling Hecky out, I also don't think it's a "no-brainer" like some do.

We have a lot of important players out of contract at the end of the season and what we do between now and then will play a huge part in keeping hold of them.
