seems to be taking a lot of stick that he doesnt deserve. Okay maybe Lucas should be given a chance but i am confused whose fault is it that we are struggling?
is it kecky? or colgan? or reid? or devaney? or davey? or shephard? or ritchie? or hayes?

or is it we got promoted last season were always going to struggle the lads are doing there best and we should get behind them?

That gets my vote mate - along with a few pints of realism!!! I seem to remember that Saint Ritchie was unable to get anyone else in to strengthen the team - players won't come for what BFC can afford to pay. Personally, I'm off to write some more begging letters to Russian billionaires!!
Ritchie seem to rely on that line too much for my liking. Colin at Sheff U however was passionate about his club and sold it to the payers he sigend. More than once, he stated players were signing for Sheff U because of the ambition of the club rather than the money. Sadly, all Ritchie could claim is 'we will never get to the Prem again'.
Total lies I'm afraid. Ritchie never said that at all. Read the article and you will see what he actually said. Try to stick to facts in future.
http://www.givemefootball.com/display.cfm?article=9359&type=2

Good to see that in writing but of course the tale of Ritchie's lack of ambition re returning to the Prem was broadcast on the local media so its allus been assumed to be true, even tho I dont believe it was AR that broadcast it
RE: Good to see that in writing That article was done AFTER he said the thing about we won't get to the Prem. If you notice one of the questions was also about his contract in the same article. So when it's time to sort a new contract out lets really big the club up a bit eh Andy? Ritchie did say that he didn't think we could get to the Prem again - unless we got a wealthy benefcator - on local radio. Patrick Cryne was quoted as saying he was disappointed with that comment. At the start of the season - again I believe it was Radio Dee Dah - Ritchie stated that he thought we could be a bit like Crewe yo-yoing between Div 1 and Championship.................hardly get's the pulse racing. PS - THESE ARE FACTS.
RE: And IMHO if thats what AR was saying That's missing the point. Yes, I agree we all know it will be nigh on impossible to get back to the Prem............. but it's a bit like a dad telling his 3 year old kid that Father Christmas does not really exist. I quote Colin again as an excellent example of Salesmanship and being able to sell the club to prospective signings. Is it any wonder the likes of Eddie Johnson went to Bradford with Ritchie constantly dumbing down the club and it's prospects................in politics they call it 'spin'. I think Ritchie is a decent manager -and a decent bloke - but this was one of his major weaknesses.
Leon Constantine! Zakuani! Ritchie long gone, League 1 player and loan player telling us where to go. Ritchies fault? You talk B*ll*cks I'm afraid.
I'm still waiting for proof, and still calling you a liar. I'll help you by giving you Cryne's statement. Even he says 'maybe' and that is aFACT unlike the unsubstantiated second hand garbage you claim to be fact.
http://www.sheffieldtoday.net/ViewArticle.aspx?sectionid=4867&articleid=1892977

My recipe for success 1. Get Promoted 2. Give promoted players a fair chance 3. Strengthen squad gradually by replacing players struggling in higher level 4. Avoid relegation by whatever margin 5. Continually look to strengthen squad Simple really, however, we did 1 & 2 (maybe too much of 2 in certain positions) and failed to do 3, but instead waited till it was almost too late and started making panic signings. That said, I still thing there's a decent chance of 4 and who knows, 5 may be implemented thereafter?
10 years iis a long time If we can avoid relegation this season and strengthen to get stability next season - possible but by no means certain then who knows It only took Danny Wilson 3 years to get us to the prem from an unpromising start and being an unpopular appointment, so if we have similar success with SD or his successor I would say the Premiership isnt possible for less than 5 years but after that the remote possibility exists
RE: 10 years iis a long time when DW was at the club the team that finished bottom of the prem didn't get £30m. It's a different ball game now and it's going to get more difficult for teams like us to get to the top flight.
RE: 10 years iis a long time AR was sacked for saying pretty much whatthis thread is saying, sacked for being realistic. If Cryne was serious about getting in an experienced man and spending some cash to get to the Prem then why isn't it happening?
also unpromising start ? 6th 94/95 10th 95/96, 2nd 96/97. Also we were playing good football not the dross we're currently being served up.
