BARNSLEY Football Club can confirm that young midfielder Nicky Wroe has today left Oakwell after having the remaining months of his contract terminated by mutual consent.

Born in Sheffield, Nicky came up through the Academy system at Oakwell and went on to make his Barnsley debut on the final day of the 2002/2003 campaign at Wigan Athletic. He was a regular with the reserves again the following campaign and clocked up two further appearances for the first team.

Nicky really made the breakthrough during the 2004/2005 campaign, making 35 first team appearances in all competitions. He was again involved regularly during the 2005/2006 season, clocking up a further 16 games.

The 21-year-old has been on the fringes this season, making just five appearances, and has spent the last two months on loan at Bury, turning out five times for the Shakers.

Nicky has made a total of 59 first team appearances for the Reds, netting one goal.

Barnsley Football Club would like to thank Nicky for his services and wish him every success in the future.
