He was once a genuine Hot Prospect......... I wish the lad well for the future. Mark Smith spoke highly of him when he was the Academy Coach. It's a shame he didn't realise his potential.
I don't know Mark Smith The only position I can speak from is that of watching him play for the reds and to be honest he's always struggled. However, the poor lad's just lost his job and probably his dreams, so I don't really feel like sticking two fingers up at him as he goes.
Barnsley folk, salt of the earth. When they aren't supporting racist politics and laughing at folk losing their jobs.
I thought he was improving only time I've seen him prooperly this year was when he started against MK Dons. I know they were a poor quality of opposition but he looked genuinely comfortable on the ball, made some good passes and even tackles. Seemed a definate improvement on the Wroe of old. Very surprised to see him go while inferior players such as Mattis are being payed to do nothing.
Sad sad day to see this player not wanted When he first came onto the scene Nicky Wroe looked great Something has gone seriously wrong here for him to drop through the ranks like a stone It could be down to the player not being focused Or It could be the recent management of the club not getting the best from him Or It could be a combination of both But something has gone wrong and there is a story out there - mi thinks Sad day - when when when is that academy going to deliver something of real substance ???
Dixon, let's hope you have a similar poll done on you when YOU'RE feeling low. The kid's had his dreams shattered, and you put on the "thank fook he's gone" option. Not even funny, you just try to get a laugh at someone's misfortune.
RE: Sad sad day to see this player not wanted Ooops, don't know what happened there. Nick could have been listening to Colin Walker on radio Sheffield last night. Walker is recruiting strikers and mid-fielders to go to New Zealand to play for a local team. All expenses provided and plane fare included. Could be half the fringe players at Barnsley will be going down under. That's if most of them are not down already.
Feel For The Lad! Becoming a pro football player and staying in work is not easy with so many people after this dream career. I wish him all the best and hope he gets himself hooked up with another league club.
sad thing is people always say how difficult it is to get into football, but Nicky must have put years of work in at the academy, then thought he'd made it in being offered a contract. Feel very sad for him that his association with the club has ended this way, but having seen him comfortably deal with MK Dons, as mentioned above, I have no doubts as to whether he will find himself a new club somewhere around that level. Best of luck to him wherever he ends up.
Hold on a minute, I'm sure not many people minded when he was loaned out thus reducing the wage bill. He's had his contract cancelled by mutual consent, this might mean both he and the club have agreed a financial package that suits both. He was out of contract in the summer, would we be feeling all mushy when his contract wasn't renewed then? or would people be up in arms if we offered him another two year contract? Lets get real
...in the meantime lets offer the Mcrory brothers contracts, squad numbers etc. and extend Tom Harbans for another year.
RE: Dixon, let's hope you have a similar poll done on you when YOU'RE feeling low. I thought that he had left himself not the club got rid of him. My mistake sorry.. or your mistake...
Another example of a young player who has had all the flair trained out of him. He looked like a potential star at Wigan in his first game - only player on the pitch that worried the pigeon!
