mate of mine was at oakwell yesterday......he represents 1 of 4 companies tendering to supply a new scoreboard. says the new scoreboard will be 5 times the size of the old one and hd tv. also a new sound system...new hd tv,s around the concourses.new paint job and murals also. onwards and upwards..yoooooooooooo reds
Good news nar we need to outsource for some J cloths to wipe the pigeon **** of the seats and we will be going in the right direction.
Sounds good that. Dunt really bother me as I turn up at 5 to 3, watch the game and go home but if it's what attracts other folk then it's all good as far as I'm concerned.
"Matchday Experience" and all that. Great news. The scoreboard is embarassing now though. Having to show "Reds" because not enough lights work to display "Barnsley".
It did mate, there's obviously that photo of it floating round from the Chelsea game with it reading Barnsley 1 Chelsea 0
You'll not recognise the place, mate We've built four new stands and put seating in front of the old stand since you were last down. Oh, and I'm sorry to be the one to tell you this but Bob Earnshaw & George Hamstead are no longer our wingers.
He hasn't But I have! Actually, I haven't got a problem with the club trying to improve the match day experience for fans. As an old fuddy duddy, I'm more interested in us improving the squad of players & scores on the pitch. I couldn't care less what music we run out to or is used when we score, what facilities are available in the concourses on match days, bringing in a useful and updated electronic scoreboard, how the concourses are decorated. But I appreciate others are, so let the club get on with it. It won't adversely affect the playing side budget or stifle the team's progress and if people have enjoyed their experience, then they may be more inclined to return (even if we haven't won).
I like to spend halftime moaning about things like the scoreboard, the music system and the war torn Yugoslavia inspired decor, so for me it will not be good news. There will always be Lindley's to fall back on I suppose.
