I would love for Odejayi to prove all the doubters (myself included) wrong and i will get behind him at the start of the new campaign as i will Davey and the rest of the squad. However imho i just dont think he can do it consistently enough at championship level. Apparently Ryan Kidd said all he needed was confidence, well if his performance against Chelsea didnt give him confidence then nothing will.
Agreed give Odejayi a chance Think all fans should get behind KO coming season not get on at him when he makes a mistake. His confidence has grown & he has improved in pre-season with fans cheering him on.
Silkstone Red That game might have have got is confidence high but its the constant ironic cheering and the racists chants what do it. Its wrong no one would say it to is face but certain people think there 7ft hard man when in stand.
RE: Agreed give Odejayi a chance I'll get behind the lad, always do. But he won't score many goals next season, he won't score more than 5-8 in my opinion. I won't boo him or anything but haven't any of you thought that the goal's he's been scoring in pre-season have been against really low opposition - Gainsborough, Buxton etc and when we play against League opposition Bradford - he doesn't score? Hmmm (chinny) All this he's a confidence player is ******** from my point of view.
Hes scoring chance when hes got the chance to. He will always create chances for the other striker as well because the defenders will go to him. Two on one him like.
He will create opportunities for others but strikers are judged on goals - And he won't get many next season. And as soon as he misses a chance the pro-Odejayi fan's will say something along the lines of 'it was a tough chance and he did well to get in that position, just lacked the finish. The anti-Odejayi fan's will say 'he's *****, get him out - missed too many one-on-one's'.
And speaking of chances - he had a chance in the 2nd half yesterday when Onouha? Slipped and allowed him in yet a truly awful first touch let Given get out and cut out the angle for him and he dwelt on it - passed it to Macken who fecked it up too, came back to Odejayi who obliterated it into Row Z of the Ponty.
I completely agree with you with regards to the racist chanting and constant barracking from the stands, its a disgrace and should not happen. I just dont buy into this confidence issue when hes had two full seasons to show what he can or should it be cant do.
A 10 year old would know that if he is getting blocked off then he should pass to someone in a better position to create a better chance. Come on, stop making excuses for him.
RE: Obliterated it into row Z? It was alway's on the rise, would have gone way over without the deflection. The deflection took it too row AA then .
Give over! Always on the rise? The deflection happened pretty much as soon as he hit it. Good vision if you could tell it was on the rise from the few cm it travelled...
It was on target and you could see that with the way given reacted. I always thought strikers worked together and not on there own. That's why managers like to have the little man big man thing. A big fan of this seams to be the spurs manager who is currently trying to sign a target man (big man) as he already has keane/defoe (little man)
