    Typical 2021/22 Barnsley game.

    Early promise evaporates. Then....

Forwards exposed as lacking strength speed or striking ability

Midfield shown as lacking penetration purpose or power

Defence guilty of giving away a goal a game at least

The whole spectacle of a team is deeply flawed. Hence the number of points we haven't got.

    We're no better under Poya.

I don't think we'll be better under anyone without a proper goal threat.

And 2019/20 don't forget. We went through so many similar games in that season as well.

That 2020/21 season was a nice blip in an utterly depressing and miserable few years to support Barnsley.

Cauley wouldda finished that chance Cole put wide in the first half. Fine margins.

And Mowatt would have finished the chance early on from Benson.
Difference from last season is that we’d score and cause the other team to open up and we’d hit them on the break again.

I agree - I was just getting at all the Woodrow bashers this season. Very confident he'd score that

I'm just glad people are seeing there were shades of 5hite last season too. Reading at home last season was a dreadful game but Mowatt scuffed that penalty in and all was forgotten.

There were, but val instilled belief and confidence in them - that can make all the difference in sport

Plus that reading player mysteriously missing the open goal helped….

We rode out luck at times last season and won more than our fair share of penalties.
It’s amazing what a bit of confidence can do

But we did finish with 49 points in 2019/20. We look like having around half that number this season.

Its amazing how results drive confidence, belief and success isnt it, certainly far more than performances do.

I'd snatch your hand off right now to finish on 24 points. I'm resigned to going down, but finishing with less points than Rotherham's record low doesn't bear thinking about.
