From a Coventry fan I know. Hmmmm. Mifsud is a typically frustrating championship player. Can be excellent, but invariably isn't. He built his reputation on a very short period of scoring individual goals (in cup games against Man u and Blackburn which meant lots of media coverage). Since then he has done very little. His first touch, passing, crossing, positional sense and even ability to stand up often get criticised. But it's been clear for over a year that he wants to leave CCFC and there's lots of rumours that he's very dissatisfied here (Coleman said publicly last week he just wants rid of Mifsud), so who knows how much he has actually been trying.
Good signing The loan arrangement could work to our advantage, after all Mifsud will want to impress any potential suitors as well as possibly secure a long deal with us. Can only be positive in the short term at least. As for the rest, he's always impressed me, has genuine pace and an eye for goal. A possible early understanding with Danny might also bear fruit.
We have to think about now and this season We have to stay up. If he scores 10 goals and gets a 'bigger' move, but it meant he kept us up, still job done. We can look elsewhere in the summer then if we have to, whilst still in this league touch wood.
RE: We have to think about now and this season My sentiments exactly. And by that time we'll hopefully have Hume back at full fitness, so the position won't be such an issue. Also glad that JCR has stayed, though a bit disappointed we didn't shed any of the dead wood.
Had a text from a Cov supporter today ... said that Mifsud is crap etc etc. I reminded him how he used to say what a fantastic player he was etc, and he didn't say much other than we're welcome to him. To me it's just a case of he's been out of position & Cov fans have taken exception to the fact they could have sold him for alot in the summer. What you can't deny is that on form, he is a definite threat. Good signing. I hope he becomes a legend.
Dead Wood? Maybe an option to loan out yet Remember today is permanent deadline day. Scunny & a.n.other were looking at oddjob on loan weren't they?
Obviously not been happy at Cov this season so has probably left on similar terms as Howard left us. He has been played out of position this season, but before that he looked a dangerous striker. He is Championship quality, even out wide, and with it being a loan we have taken no risk really, other than him leaving us for somewhere else in the summer. I have always considered him a danger man when we played Cov.
Only time will tell on all 3 signings, but I'm particularly encouraged by Hammill (who has already had a successful spell at this level so should only be better this time around)and the Armenian chap who, hopefully, might be another de Silva.
