An average gate of just shy of 14,000 is very respectable considering how poor we are. 5th from bottom in the attendance league, but not far behind quite a few clubs in the pack above us. If we get relegated this season it'll be a crying shame not to have built on what we've got. We'll be lucky to get 10k next season if we go down. Big empty away end and teams coming to park the bus. Not a welcoming thought is it?
I think if we go down 10k is optimistic, unless we race to the top of the division early in the season. If we stay up, start playing more attractive football & vastly improve facilities at Oakwell we could be moving nearer the middle of the attendance ladder in a couple of seasons. That's why going down would be such a disaster. It would set us back 3-4 seasons effectively.
What are you basing that assertion on? I'm not saying we are nailed on for relegation, but if we don't start winning games soon things will get very difficult & we'll be looking for a Flitcroft-esque escape. We should have had 3 points yesterday, the referee was a piece of dogsh!t... however we seem to have a turd refereeing us every week, so why should that change either. #teamslikebarnsleygetbiasedrefereesweekinweekout

We haven't got time for them to establish themselves.... Its come in and have an impact or bust! We can stay up but it's going to be very difficult especially with our inability to get 3 points!

It's often those same fans who expect our players to run through brick walls and never say die, to show loyalty so they never ever leave, our owners to sink every penny of their fortunes into the club and make huge signings, now make a managerial appointment of "intent" on a "name" who has been sacked multiple times... who give in when there are still 45 points to play for and a wide range of poor teams close at hand. Do as I say, not as I do should be the fans motto. Personally, i'll believe and hope til there is no reason left to do so.
