Anyone know if my daughter's passport will be valid for a trip abroad in May, if the expiry date is June? (Think there's some rule about being within 6 months of expiry?) Can't find it on the website, and the helpline is £1.50 a minute to listen to a slow speaking robot, who has 10 minutes worth of options. Assuming I have to renew, what is the turnaround time if done at Post Office? Or am I looking at a taxi to Peterborough?!! Cheers in advance.
I belive it is six months from the date of the return journey https://passports.ips.gov.uk/epa1r1a/Rich/Formpage.aspxthis link may help ... but I'd go to the post office and find out about 'check and send' service
It depends on the Country you're going to. Each Country has their own rules on how long a passport should have to run.
I got mine back in just over a week, it was a renewal. Filled it in online, they sent it to me, got a new photo from Klik, went to post office who checked it and sent it for me. Expensive though, about £75 ish + post office checking fee.
I think that there may be a problem if the appearance on the the old photo and new photo is significantly different. e.g. if she still has her baby photo on the old passport.

i worked in the airport for 6 years and you had to have a passport with at least 6 months before expirey to be able to fly
