I think that Schmidt would be a very good finisher in the right system and with the right colleagues beside him. Unfortunately for Schmidt, VI is unlikely to play a system that suits him. He is going to play 3-4-3, and in 3-4-3 the front 3 have to press. That means that they have to work hard, potentially for no reward, and whatever else we say about Schmidt, pressing is not his strength.

Schimdt signed as a goalscorer for a club that like it's forwards to shovel snow off pitch and clean the bogs before match.

Not sure about the qpr game he has been anonymous each time he played this season. Cardiff away the 1st time I noticed he was on the pitch was his stupid back heel instead of holding the ball up when we were on the edge of their box went straight to there player and they almost scored, the 2nd thing of note he did was to leave the pitch. He can finish given the opportunity in the box but apart from that, he doesn't win anything in the air, hasnt got the strength to hold the ball up, hasnt got a powerful shot that will score from long range, not fast or strong enough to beat a defender and alot of the time he goes missing on the pitch. I don't think he will make it at this level.

3 goals in 38 appearances, but how many actual minutes has he had on the pitch? Especially when we’ve not been chasing a lost cause. His only start this season, I think was Cardiff away, when NO Barnsley player came out with any credit. In my view he’s not had a fair crack of the whip and he deserves a run of consecutive games like victor and Chaplin have had, before he gets written off.

He’s not the type of player that will run around like a headless chicken, but when he’s had the chance, he’s created opportunities ie Odour at Brentford, Chaplin against Norwich in the FAC in his last 5 minute cameo, or scored, Millwall, Forest (last season) from his positioning and intelligence he’s a natural finisher, more so than Woodrow, but he’s not a physical player that puts himself about and that’s why big Val obviously doesn’t fancy him as a player, but in my view he’s the type of player who can touch the ball twice in 90 mins and either get an assist or score. I honestly think he will come good given the opportunity, but at the minute I don’t see him getting that chance.

Like others I suspect there's a decent player in Schmidt long term, but if he wants to make it in England he needs to go out on loan and prove he can hack the physicality of the game and score some goals. I suspect we were more than happy for him to go out during this window, so it's a shame (and perhaps telling) that no-one in league 1 thought he could do a job for them.

He's obviously dropped down the list, so being on a long contract I'd be hoping we can get him out on loan next season.

you have to wonder though why haven’t Stendel, Murray, Struber and now Ismaël given him a run of starts? It’s like there may be some reasoning behind it.

Signed off a spreadsheet in my opinion. His stats will be great and looking at his last season in Austria he was more than a 1 goal in 3, but his playing style doesn’t suit an out and out pressing tactic. Which begs the question on who made the decision to sign him for €1m euro in the first place, but that being said he deserves more than the odd 5 min cameo sub appearance, usually when we are chasing a game. He should be getting the 30 mins Thomas was getting before he went to ipswich!

And over the last 2 1/2 seasons George Miller has scored 7 times in 72 appearances.

I suspect those appearances only equate to a few minutes per game average , however credit to the lad as he has a lot better return than Thomas & he cost big bucks
