PC help - completely stumped!

    Installed Win2k Pro on a PC seemingly without a hitch, but it gets to the Win2k Pro introduction screen and won't boot any further. Initially I installed it over the top of Win98 and thinking this might be the problem, I re-formatted and did a clean install instead. It's an old PC but meets all the listed minimum system requirements - has a 450 mhz pentium 3 processor, 30 gb partitioned hard drive (12gb on C which is where the install went to & 19gb on D which is empty) and 128mb RAM. I did let it convert the file system to NTFS during the install as this was recommended. I've given it all the Win2k hardware drivers it was asking for through safe mode (graphics, sound etc). Anyone any ideas what could be stopping it booting?

    Checked it out beforehand...

    ...and seemed to be ok.

    Probably a corrupt disc, try a complete format & remove partition. That machine would run XP at a push, loaded it onto similar in my time although more memory would be good.

    I have reformatted it. Installed it over Win98 originally but then decided to try a clean install.

    Try a different operating system disc, looks like the one you are using is faulty.
