I appear to have picked up a virus and the constant ping telling me i've picked a virus up is doing my head in. Is there any sraight forward ways of removing virus without having to download a virus protecter.I'm on Windows 10.
Sounds like maybe a sneaky adware browser plugin. See if you can find a list of your browser extensions, if you’re on Chrome it’s in the top-right of the browser. Right click and uninstall anything you didn’t put there.
No. Why wouldn't you want a virus protector, out of interest? They stop you getting viruses. Like the one you have now.
I was just hoping there was a click to remove the virus. As you can probably tell I'm not that tech savvie.
if you go to avast and/or malwarebytes, they're probably the two most user friendly, free options. unfortunately you will have to download software though, as they need to scan your machine. give them a go. good luck...
It wouldn’t be that good of a virus if there was. Download some free software (malwarebytes is a good one) to remove it. Even if you don't want virus protection you do need a virus remover. You can download the official one for free here: https://www.malwarebytes.com/solutions/free-antivirus The free version is fine for finding and getting rid of viruses, it won't protect you from getting further ones.
Malware bytes is what I’d recommend. You probably haven’t got a virus, you’ve got some malware telling you that you’ve got a virus and trying to get you to install the actual virus. It’s logic vs paranoia! What’s telling you that you have a virus? And how does it know?
