What wages? He would be without a club, he's 36, coming towards the end of his career and hardly played over the past few seasons. I don't see why someone like that should be out of reach for us.

How much you reckon he would want? I don't see him getting a regular game over here for more than a mid table championship club anymore and he's got that much cash he will probably be more interested in a regular game.

Dont worry. If someone else had suggested him they would have agreed. Its because its you that they want to rubbish your suggestion.

No mate it won't be that. Springvale and Doddy are both decent guys I get along well with and even though I don't know smithiestyke i'm sure he was just giving an opinion. It's good this forum though because if you mention lower league players people ask if they can make the step up, so you mention someone coming to the end of their playing days and because of what they did in Euro 96 and for Liverpool over a decade ago they are out of our league even though they have no club lol.

DB you know you shouldn't suggest players like that on here

You should suggest League One standard players like Grant McCann and take others to task when they question his ability

Yeah I should be asking why we ever let Ferenczi go and why Muller isn't our number one.

Good shout as he would be a great player, but he would be looking for a final pay off, or want to finish back in Germany

If he did come here it would be fantastic, but as i said he would want more than 5k a week

5K would be fine on a free. It's only 260K for a one year contract which I think would be worth it. Would also bring us more publicity having a known name like him with us.

I think the likelihood of us signing high profile players like that are slim to none. Despite probably not being worth it, they still want the big wages. And we're simply not fashionable enough for the big city boys. I'm surprised we even went for Kevin Philips - we don't usually even try.

After saying all that, Ian Wright went to Burnley and Gazza went to whoever would keep his fridge stocked....

    He'd be a quality signing.

Wages shouldn't be an issue if we were apparently matching Birmingham's offer for Kevin Phillips. Being a Barnsley fan you can't help but think if he was to say he'd join a club in the Championship, that some fcuker else in our league would get him ahead of us.

Yeah £5k a week would be great for us, but he will be looking at more like £20k a week

    Wages shouldn't be an issue?

He was on about 40 grand a week at Man City!

Oh and BTW - Kevin Phillips played about8 games for England and Hamman was an international footballer for a decade winning 59 caps in the process.

Hamanns sides include Newcastle, Liverpool, Bayern Munichand Man City.

Kevin Phillips played for Sunderland, Watford, Villa, West Brom, Southamptonand Birmingham in the Championship.

    Not really a comparison.
