I thought Mr Drysdale tried to let the game flow for the first 60 minutes or so, maybe a but too much at times. A couple of poor tackles from Wycombe in the second half, and the goal were major decisions. I think he got the main stuff just about right. Fair play on allowing the goal, because many referees wouldn't have had the nerve.
Bottled a straight red and a blatant penalty. That said, he can’t be blamed for how bad we were for 80 minutes.
An average 5 for me. let a lot of tackles go, so the game flowed from that perspective, but should have clamped down on the gamesmanship and 'injuries' early doors. How many of their players were in the death throes yet their trainer never even left the bench? Shows what their gameplan was. And the lad who rolled over the boards onto the track, only to hobble back onto the pitch and 'collapse' ................... sorry but when I am King that will be a season long ban and suspended prison sentence.
I’ve gave him a 10, tbh It would’ve been a 7/8 but a thought he showed a lot of bottle to keep to his guns and let the goal stand
Thought he was diabolical. Let blatant dangerous fouls go unpunished. The cowardly ganging up on a 17 year old kid resulted in no-one being booked. Missed a stonewall penalty and generally lost control. It may well have been justice but allowing the goal was the final act of a poor performance.
Exactly how I saw it. His short sightedness throughout was unacceptable even if it did mean fewer stoppages in play. How to clamp down on gamesmanship is a tricky one but a booking or two early on might have prevented the worst if it. Thank goodness Jacobson didn’t get on the pitch! His shameful failure to send at least two of theirs off for dangerous tackles was worse and, remembering the Phillips debacle at Wembley, made my blood boil watching it. The final act, allowing Cosgrove’s goal to stand, does not excuse another woeful performance by a so-called referee. The man’s a clown, and not a very good one. PS. The goal decision was correct. Definitely no foul committed there
Jalo ran off with the ball to deliberately waste time when he knew he’d gone off the pitch. They were agitated & trying to get an equaliser. The players age is irrelevant. The goal was fine.
What was the other dangerous tackle? Surely you don’t mean the Jalo one? That was a clear yellow & he gave the Wycombe player one
His age is relevant when you've got 5 grown men trying to kick lumps out of him. Good job Cosgrove looked after him cos he looked like a rabbit caught.in the headlights.. If you think the goal was fine, I'd have a closer look at Cosgroves left arm. He gave it and I'm happy he did but if that had been at our end you'd have been fuming
If the referee had given every touch & flop to the floor all night then yes I would be fuming but he was consistent last night. He didn’t fall for any play acting anywhere on the pitch. I’ve seen the clip & he touches him with this left arm but there’s nowhere near enough contact for him to drop to the floor. If he does his job & isn’t trying to waste time / get Cosgrove booked the goal doesn’t happen.
He tried to let things go and not be conned, was consistent to both teams with it as well, and I’ve no problem with that. I’d take that most weeks. However, he didn’t get on top of any of their antics, rolling round on the floor, pinching ten yards or more every throw in, niggling little bits of afters etc. Basically let Wycombe do what Wycombe do. Also felt there should have perhaps been a red card in front of the dugouts but I’m not in the best seat to know for sure. Similarly I thought Cosgrove was fouled in the box, so overall a middling 5 out of 10… But… Gets a bonus increase from 5 to 7 for not falling for the keeper’s swan dive at the end.
I watched the first hour then turned off so missed some of the more contentious decisions. Didn't get a lot wrong in that time. Got a huge call at the end of the game 100% correct when most refs would have given a foul. 7 for me.
For me he was generally poor, arguably got 3 game changing decisions wrong The yellow card for the GBH on Mael, the Penalty for the push on Cosgrove and the goal. I actually think he got the goal right mind but many refs would have given the "foul" especially without the benefit of a replay. That meant I improved his mark from 4 to 5 He did let the game flow and didnt blow for many fouls other refs would - a couple on Cotter and one blatant one on Cole spring to mind. It was refreshing to see him not fall for Wycombes gamesmanship though
I am putting the goal incident to one side here and looking at the rest of the game. 2 other major decisions were the foul on De Gevigney, not seen it back but looked a a red card at the time and the shove on Cosgrove looked a penalty. He seemed to let quite a few ‘ challenges’ ride mainly against us but some for them as well. They had a player down injured but didn’t put the ball out, yet as soon as they lost possession he stopped play for it. We’ve had worse, but I’m not impressed with him. I’ve given a 5 , could’ve been a 6 if I took the goal incident into account
