  1. RE: I had a fantastic football game...

Wish I knew - I would love to find it again. There won't be anything like it now but it really was well crafted. The players were proper dye cast iron with strong springs at the feet to anchor them. It got played to death but never got broken. I think one team was red and the other blue. One of those things that you look back and think why didn't your parents put it away somewhere safe for when you got older and fancied playing with it again!

I had Subbuteo as well - originally the flat plastic players version and the third generation. Used to play in leagues at people's houses. Did I play you I wonder?? Rarely played on a table though - nearly always on the floor scrambling around the pitch on my knees.

Confession time - I STILL have it!

Don't know if we had a game of subbuteo or not but there was a thriving mini-league amongst the kids around Churchfield. Gary Blake, Tommy Lynch, Alan Docherty and the like. Mebbies even Sharpy (aka Shy Talk) played too, he lived up Prince Arther Street if memory serves.
I see your up on Freinds Reunited at Broadway.

  3. Prob not..

Wrong side of town for me - I lived at the bottom of Cemetery Road, next to the Junction Inn. Don't recall playing any away matches anywhere as exotic as Churchfields!

I joined Friends Reunited a couple of years ago and made a few email contacts but I have let it lapse. Ought to pay up I suppose and go back in.

You must have known Janet Fieldsend then. Larvly gal.

Yes, remember Janet. Lived just up Donny Road, next door to the school if I remember rightly. In what context are you using the term "larvly"? :)

    Subbuteo.......

Excellent game! My neighbour and i played out the league fixtures, to the background of immitation crowd noises. His mother, or mine, would always pipe up: "Stop that bloody silly racket".

as a newbie and scared to death of him, I got a detention for 'admitting' to dropping litter and was nowhere near the place!

    Always liked Gus though

    I've got a MkII Chopper

Fantastic condition, i'm willing to sell it for the right price. If not i'll be seen spinning round Barnsley on it, always get some great comments from people as it's not the sort of bike you see very often.

It's like the one below but in Blue.
