Players needed for league 1. Battlers and cloggers with limited ability...

As bad as dawson is in this league, he should be kept on for next season. O'Brien too who I think would stay and try and get us back up. Kennedy still under contract so you'd assume he'll stay. M'Voto is ****ing dreadful but likewise he's a clogger so I can see him being a regular.

O'Grady and Jennings will be sold at cut-price. Cranie won't play league 1 football. Not sure on Steele because he'll still be under contract, will he stay? Mellis will be released also. Cywka I'd like him to stay but a lowly placed championship team might come in for him. MCCOURT released also.

Get ready for next season folks because it ain't gonna be pretty but bring it on ...

    Thoughts?!

Agree with most, a lot of this squad would be useful in L1. Even McCourt for me, he would rip it up in that division.

Would love to keep Jennings in league one. Sadly, I think we'll lose O'Grady.

I dread that division even more with the thought that Dawson will still be here

The unbelievable thing is that we've still got a chance of getting the 4th bottom spot . So although probably favourites to go down I'm still clinging to the chance of an escape from relegation

My thoughts are that just about every team promoted from league 1 are good footballing sides and the cloggers fill the bottom half of the division. I think the squad we have now would struggle just as much in league 1 as it is doing in the championship (maybe not quite as much, but they'd still be down the bottom).

The players we've brought in from the lower leagues, the likes of Dawson, M'Voto and Kennedy weren't plucked from successful league 1 sides. They weren't the stars of their team. They're average lower league players who could just as easily be relegated from League 1 as they can be from the Championship.

Our so called skilful players - Mellis and Cywka - will have all the same flaws in the league below. Every half a dozen games they might score or create a goal, but they'll still offer just as little cover for the defence. Paddy will be able to open up defences more easily, but he still won't track back or run about all over the place, so if that's what people expect from him he'll look just as ineffectual in the league below.

We've got a few decent players: Steele is a decent 'keeper, not perfect like some want, but good enough. Cranie and Ramage are a good central defensive partnership, but one is on loan and the other only contracted to the end of the year. O'Grady is capable of leading the line in the Championship, and scoring goals, so he'll certainly be effective in league 1. And Jennings looks like he has something and the work ethic to be a decent player, even if it's just potential with a few flashes so far. Then there's O'Brien who blows hot a cold, but is worth his place in the squad simply for his work rate and Hassell, who still has plenty to offer in a number of positions, but we can't get him fit enough to play two games in a row, never mind contribute to a full season. Apart from that, what we've got isn't worth **** in League 1 or the Championship.

Even if we can convince all the above to stay and even if we can get them all fit, we've still only got half a team, never mind a squad. We'd need serious investment in the playing staff whichever league we find ourselves in. We still might pox a Championship place, there are three other teams that seem just as desperate for relegation as we are, but it'll be the same old over next season. And if we are relegated, I foresee another relegation scrap in League 1 because the majority of the above who have some quality will be gone, there'll be little if no money to bring in anyone decent and the rest of the squad we have is utter rubbish. At best we've only got three youngsters pushing for a starting place and none of us really know if they've got what it takes. They might have, but they could just as easily be miles off.

We really need to acknowledge what kind of mess we're in, what the last 6 seasons has 'built' towards, or we could just blame Wilson and sack another manager.

I hope we keep O'Brien, whatever division we're in. Same goes for Cywka. I wouldn't be sad to see McCourt and Dawson leaving, though.

Agree butI wouldn't sell O'Grady or Jennings cut price though, If German Nick cost 2-5 million then we should hold out for that kind of money..and i'd also want around a million for Jennings, but that may be after add ons come in though...owt less and you may as well keep em. Cos those two would cover the short fall in money. But do they have a get out clause ?..Would love Cywka to stay, think he would class in league 1, and for this very reason I would not have lets Daggers go at christmas...
But it will be time for Ben's wheeling and dealing skills to come too the fore..

M'voto isn't good enough for league one IMO. Shinning the ball would be a problem in any league.

Hill signed him on a 1 year deal. He signed a 2 year contract with flitcroft in the summer, has another year after this mark.

Our kid said the same thing. It turned into a freak show and it was uncomfortable viewing.
