What is it with him, is he sha**ing his missus or something? I know PR's not averse to wasting a bit of money but insted of showing him the door that his "performances" warranted, he offers him an extension to his current deal! http://icwales.icnetwork.co.uk/0600...objectid=19259392&siteid=50082-name_page.html Unbelievable. I reckon we must be about a week away from having a tropical tank delivered (hidebehindsofa)
Longer contract = bigger transfer fee when they go ? Unless Riddy really does want to get the best players secured on longer deals.
When they go... That's a nice phrase regarding McPhail. Don't think it's the case though as, unbelievably, Dave Jones seems to rate him. Absolutely no idea why but there you go. You've done us up like kippers I watched him closely v Sheff Wed at Ninian (something I've never done before as I think it's unfair) and, basically, he worked within a 10 yard area between the edge of the center circle and their box. Other than that he was anonymous and disinterested, barely moving. Even when he was "in the zone" he was ineffective and posed no threat whatsoever. Money for old rope springs to mind. The fact that we extended Chopras contract could, and I believe will, come into play with regard to the higher transfer fee.
Got to say ......... ..... when he left us, lots of our fans were upset, but I wasn't. In my opinion he did **** all for us, the odd decent game (usually televised) but generally very much the same as you descibe him, wandering about in a 10 to 20 yard zone either between the half way line and the oppositions 18 yard line, or the half way line and our 18 yard line, making easy, short passes to team mates who were marked without getting anywhere. Not enough killer passes, nowhere near enough goals and very, very over-rated ..... you are welcome to him, Brian Howard is twice the player that MacPhail is
If owt ... You should try and shorten the contract to six months ... you'll be amazed at the improvement then!
I particularly like..........
McPhail adds genuine quality in midfield and is a player who can be even more influential next season.

was he very influential last season-he certainly could be next year -or not as the case may be-not worth the money IMHO

I'd go further ....and place him on the list immediately. Tries to look pretty but is simply not good enough. No goals, sent off 3 times when there's no aggression in him, right foot just to stand on...... And, by comparison, we list Steve Thompson - someone who works his socks off for the cause and can play. Indeed, many of Chopras goals this year have been a credit to Thommo. He only scored 6 himself and was listed as a result.
RE: I particularly like.......... That's our local press for you and the chief football writer at that! He knows a fraction more about football than you're average amoeba. Not the intelligent amoeba obviously. Even McPhail would struggle to be less influential next season. IMO, McPhail's future lies out of football - maybe as PR's personal assistant as he seems to like to take him wherever he goes.
I thought he looked the part against us-we could do with someone like him but I guess a) we couldn't afford him and b) P Riddy wouldn't sell to us
