The subject of Match Of The Day usually gets plenty of the moaners out on here (not quite as many as for the Football League Show, I'll grant you!!) Anyrode, we launch 'MOTD2 Extra' in a few weeks, a Sunday lunchtime show (1220-1300) which will be simulcast on BBC1 and Radio 5 Live. It will be mainly discussion based, reacting to Saturday's games & the Sunday press, and looking ahead to that day's fixtures. We'll be running some of the better post-match interviews from Saturday, possibly some Football Focus features that would work on t'wireless too. Bit like the Monday Night Club on R5L if any of you listen to that, but with the added bonus of moving pictures!

So, what would you like to see/hear from the new show? We can't run any Premier League action due to contractual restrictions, and I suspect the same thing might apply for League footage (although the remit is mainly PL anyway). Any particular guests you'd like on? Any you wouldn't??! Features? Social media? Listener/viewer interraction?

Cheers all, any sensible suggestions much appreciated & will get brought to the table at the planning meetings next week.

How's about Ian McMillian reading 'Martin Cranie's World of Toast'? Or getting a live battle rap going.

Sadly the viewers seem to lap it up, Spartacus. We aim to please. I read that as wanting more Southampton stuff.

Micky, do you work in Manchester or London. You don't know Ben McCarthy by any chance do you?

I think the Monday night club on 5Live is generally a good show and I like the balance (usually one ex-pro, a broadcaster and a journalist) you get in the panelists as they are not all ex-professional footballers spouting the same old ex pro ***** ala pretty much any other show about football. Personally, I would like you to ignore Robbie Savage as he's far too opinionated and full of himself and won't listen to anybody elses point of view. Folk that I would like to see more of are Tim Vickery (I really enjoy his blog on world football and the world football phone in on 5live a silly o'clock is usually good when he's on), Gabrille Marcotti (one of the few journalist/broadcasters who is willing to state that the Premier League isn't the only and/or best league in the world). Ian McGarry off the Monday night club is always worth a listen and should be on more often. I also find Paddy Barclay is very listenable as well.

    Hope this helps.

Completely agree about Marcotti and Vickery but it will most likely be the same old ex-pro love in ***** that every other football show uses.

Yes, I know him well - our researcher, planner, occasional producer and font of all things football related. Top fella.

Spot on, time the beeb fecked off the high earning Lineacre, Hansen, Lawrenson etc. Bring in a Max Headroom figure for Match of the Day to introduce games and **** off all the gassing in between matches.
