Both left footed, left side of the diamond, Halme centre defensive point of diamond, today mowatt was moved to the woodrow attacking point of the diamond, when Thomas came off Mowatt moved to the right hand side. What will happen when Woodrow is fit again and goes back as the ACM where does Mowatt play. It seems Ritzmaier plays in Mowatts position and Mowatt has bee moved to accomodate.

As we did with Woodrow initially to move him into CAM, Mowatt is too good of a player to leave out the team so i reckon he'll be playing RCM alongside Ritzmaier and he'll just have to do the best he can. Only problem is Mowatt is extremely left footed, always fetching the ball onto his left or looking for the opportunity to do so, him playing on the right side might cause himself and the team a few issues.

It will be a dilemna for Struber but I cant see Mowatt playing on the right. Weve too many left footers in the squad

    Dilemma or Dilemna?

    When Woodrow comes back.
He will be on the bench.

Don’t think a left footer on the right of the diamond is much of an issue. The width / crossing from the bye line comes from the full back or Jacob Brown.

    It's called options. Surely?

We can't just have 11. We need a strong bench.

My view is Mowatt wont be sub or right midfield, neither will Woodrow be on the bench or replace Chaplin or Brown. Its strange that Struber has strengthened in the only area that didnt need strengthening. Mowatt is captain and one of the first names on the team sheet. I think Woodrow will leave and Mowatt will stay at the tip of the diamond and a striker brought in as back up to the current front 2 and a new centre half to help Anderson and Diaby.
There are not many decent players who will sit on the Barnsley bench on our wages for too long and Woodrow and Mowatt certainly wont but Chaplin and Brown suit Struber style and Ritzmaier has been brought in to play. I cant see any other way than if Woodrow goes and the transfer fee helps to pay for players to strengthen other areas of the squad that needs it more.

For me employed as a striker, and its his best position, im not convinced he should be further back

    Yes he will.
But Mowatt most likely will end up on the bench.

Midfield has been a weak spot this season.
As I’ve said before Mowatt dosen't play to his strengths - which is receiving the ball and dictating play going forward - pinging those defence splitting passes.

He isn’t quick enough, he can’t beat a defender, he isn’t strong in the tackle - BUT he can deliver a killing pass.
Very much like McPhail - but McPhail knew where to receive the ball and knew where the ball was going to go before it got to him.

Struber tried him in a more forward role because I think Struber can see that he has some skill but he doesn’t know how this fits the team.

It has - in fact I would say most agree on that.
But defensive midfield has added to that problem.

Think Halme has made that position his own

If we had a bit more experience and composure at centre back, I think we'd be OK. Don't see the midfield as an issue currently

Mowatt is club captain. Woodrow our best player. Ritzmaier has been signed because Strubber knows he can play in his system.

When we get Cauley back Thomas will be the fall guy.

If you’d honestly drop Mowatt from this side then it’s time to find a different sport you know nothing about football.

As another poster has said it’ll be Thomas that gets dropped for Woodrow when he returns from injury.

Struber has no issue playing two left footers either side of Halme, he’s done it numerous times with Mowatt & Thomas.

Neither Thomas or Mowatt will be dropped.

As long as we're winning I couldn't give a shiny **** who plays.
