Why has Ruban gone on trail at Man U ? No home grown talent in the first team as it is. Served his purpose no doubt to save Davey's job when he should have gone at Ipswich. Took the press off his back.

Davey gets wonder kid to Man U ? for 200K if lucky. This is a player who could be a Tarn legend and be sold for a few million. Oh I forgot he is a English lad not a cheap import

Someone told me sat night that he didnt interest man utd during a trial because despite being a talented all rounder, he didnt excell in any specific area, but not sure if this was some time back.

Man U have been after RNL for 3 years now so he may have had a quiet game but they know what he can do. Its Davey pushing him there no way the Academy would want to lose a player like that.

Trying to keep Man Ure sweet so we can loan another of their injured makeweight youngsters for a season perhaps?

    How is it Davey's fault?

Players aren't allowed to sign professional contracts until they are 17, and he's only 15 so we won't have had much say in whether he goes or not.

May as well let him go on trial, let them sign him and we'll get compensation for him. Fair play to Davey and Cryne if we do manage to get some money.

The fact he has played in our 1st team will mean we do get some decent compo. If he hadn't we would get a lot less. Well done SD for playing him. Nowt we can do if he wants to sign for somebody else.

Re: RNL - United or Barnsley?

One of my work mates has a son at Man Utd. His son is 17 years old, he is a regular in the Youth team but has not played in the Reserves as yet. He is earning £900 per week. I bet there are pros at our club who may not be earning that much.
If United fancy him, the money will make the boys/family mind up to join United. The "Opportunity to progress" over "Money" argument will go out the window particularly as we no longer have a Reserve team!

    RE: Decent compensation.

How much would you regard as decent compensation for RNL?

Your missing the point we have no local players in our team and have players around that would be good enough given time. Well done for sending him? This is a player who could go for a couple of million at 18 not a few grand which will do nothing. He also got in the first team to stop Davey getting sacked at Ipswich

Who said anything about SD being right for sending him? You need to re-read my post. Like I say, if RNL wants to sign for another club then there is nowt we can do, we can't force him to stay, as it stands now he is free to do what he wants. As for the reasons why he was played by SD, you are obviously more in the know than me.

Haven't a clue but one thing is for sure, it will be more for a player who has played in the 1st team than a 15 year old who has only played academy football.

Have to agree. We should be bringing talent like this through the ranks and into the first team. He may be the next David Hirst but becuase he's English Davey doesn't want to know. Imagine if Davey had been in charge back in the early / mid 80's. Hirst would never have made it in to the first team. He used to be the Academy manager FFS but he'd rather keep on gambling with foreign *****.

    Re: RNL

I am not missing the point. You are. I was responding to a post from "Ponty72" asking him how much he thought "decent compo" would be for RNL.

Who said Davey isn't interested? He was slated when he did play him. I am positive that any move will be engineered by RNL not SD.

    He's 15!

Absolutely in no way old enough to play regularly for the first team.

RNL has been invited to try out for Manchester United and Barnsley really can't expect him to turn that down. He'll go along and see what they have to offer him. Meanwhile, Simon Davey will probably be talking to him, making sure he realises that it might not be a good career move for him to go to Manchester to play with the kids when he can stay with Barnsley, train with the senior squad and slowly develop into a first team player here before moving on if he wants to.

After that, it's his decision. If he goes then fair play to him and we'll get compensation. If he stays then in a couple of years we could have a great player.

    RE: Decent compensation.

Agreed. I think the club have seen this one coming and they have done all they can to"hype" up his value to ensure they get the most they can for the player.
His agent/advisers have probably already priced him out of Barnsley's grasp.
I too have no idea how much the club might receive in compensation.
