They have today announced they will be no longer be selling fireworks due to animal welfare. Thoughts?

They should have stopped selling for human welfare too. Don't see the point in them. Rather expensive just to make a loud bang and then be done. Not worth the hassle they bring with idiots not behaving with them and the increase in hospital visits.

The only ones i would still sell would be the basically silent ones that just do fountains of nice colours. Little kids tend to enjoy these.

Good move. I would change my shopping allegiance to them, if they had a store close enough.

Good. Animals are important, more important than the desire of some numpty to set off fireworks because it's what they've always done.

i suspect the chavs setting off fireworks for a month either side, aren't shopping at sainsbury's. it's these pop-up 'firework superstores' that do the damage

Good, should only be allowed at organised events. Long gone are the days when it was a small box of Standard fireworks in the garden with your family, or bunny- wooding for weeks beforehand with your mates for the street bonfire, home made toffee and parkin. Now the youths use them to intimidate and damage, and it starts anytime now.

I think it's a disgrace that people are going in to Sainsbury's and buying fireworks for their pets. If your cat wants a box of bangers, let them buy them themselves.
