That doesn't make him an arsehole. Maybe he wanted a night out with his mates without being approached by Barnsley supporters who are only doing so because of who he plays for.

ah right yeh! with it being the match tommorow. Might not have been allowed out! But hardly likely to matter 3rd choice keeper. I don't know why we have kept him tbh and for him personally its no good for his career.

If a player doesn't want the attention of fans when he is out and about in this day and age, then he really shouldn't be a professional footballer. It comes with the territory.

I encountered something similar with Rob Atkinson a few months back. Asked him how it was going and if he expected to break into the first team, only to be met with the reply of 'Don't know what you mean - what you talking about mate?' and school girl giggles between him and Nathan Jarman (who was out with him). Fair enough, if they don't have the decency to talk to us, then be honest - but is it really so hard to have a 5 minute chat with a fan? I don't think so.

What a surprise he wasn't very forthcoming when you said he owed you a tenner for what happened pre-season! That's a nice way to enter into a conversation!

 

RE: To be fair...

Only ever spoke to Jon Parkin on a night out and to be fair he spoke to us first (probably because of the staring we were doing lol). The player might think you are only talking to him because of who he plays for and no other reason (which would be true), so if he doesn't want to talk I don't see anything wrong with that. Rob Atkinson was apparently in Escapade after the Blunts game with his girlfriend. I mis heard when I was told and thought they said RON Atkinson

 

I can understand that. However.

These guys are people that we look up to (ok, maybe not Atkinson and Letheren) and they are role models for lots of people. Children and adults alike. For them to not even give up a few moments to chat with a fan, is in my opinon, very rude. It's not just them, it's people in general - as a race, we are ignorant, selfish feckers.
