Has anyone on here ever been sacked for under performance? Not redundancy, nothing else. Just for being not very good at their job?

Not personally but I have sacked somebody for under performance / capability issues.

Cheers mate. And were they sacked part way through some work or after failing to deliver what you asked?

    Yup

Worked for a couple of weeks in McDonalds, part time while I was at Uni. I think I needed more beer money. I approached it with all the enthusiasm of a Barnsley season ticket holder going to a midweek game in November when it's pissing it down. In my second week the manager said he didn't think the job was right for me. Never has a sacking been more deserved.

The circumstances were quite similar to Hills. They were given time and help to turn things around, they were given lots of support and training and given tools to try and help them do their job better. Ultimately they didn't improve and customer pressure left us with no choice besides dismissal. I didn't want to do it but there came a point when I realised that they just weren't up to the job.

So , you are now somehow starting to say that Keith should not be sacked because he has not failed in his job? In so much as we are not relegated. Is that where this thread is going? Is that your argument ?

My argument is that a lot of people say 'if that was me I'd have been sacked from my job'. Which I think is wrong.

And if you're given an objective to stay up, you should be given the full season to do that. Like I said, if Milwall had sacked Jackett last March would they be in the playoffs?

Good things come to those who wait, Mark. Sithi.

The sign of strong leadership is knowing when you need to change things, I do think we have been very hasty in getting rid of managers previously, but for crying out loud, how bad do you think BFC should let things get before they stand up and say enough is enough.
I have never called for Hill to go, I have said I dont like a fair few things he has said and done,I admit that much, but I fail to see how keeping a man that seems so bloody clueless, is a good idea.

Sometimes it's the case that mid-project you can tell the personnel involved are not up to the task and if you persist with them then the project will fail. You then have to get someone else in to tidy up the mess and finish off.

Not saying we're there yet. I don't think we are. But what if things carry on with no improvement? I've said 5 games, but that's just a personal opinion. What if he hasn't won another game by the end of January? Or even February? By that time it will be obvious the project is heading for disaster, but it could well be too late to save it.

Only if you can afford to shift out and inject capital to support your new project team...

I do agree though but how do we know what the project is? Is breaking even the end goal? Is there a realisation that going down, in the end, is inevitable considering the sides/money in this league and our support?

I don't want him to go. I think if we went down I'd like him to stay too. But I can understand why fowk want him to go, I just don't agree. Cryne/Don need to stand by their man.

And every project I've worked on hits a rough patch and things have to change or targets changed. Maybe I should get sacked.

Like I've said to Jay, I think he's hitting his targets set by Don/Patrick. Out of the bottom 3, broke even.

I admire your continued support and I am disappointed with myself for giving up over the last couple of weeks but I just can't see him turning things around now. I genuinely hope I am wrong and I would be more than happy to eat humble pie over this if he does get things right.
