If that was a pro-cat comment........

As a conservationist I am all in favour of a national cull of domestic cats. Their population has increased dramatically over the last two decades and is known to be contributing to the decline in small birds populations. More significantly cats have also been implicated in declines in frogs, small mammals and reptiles. On a global scale they are the single most important cause of extinctions of birds.
Having said that, lethal fox-traps are illegal in the UK and you can rest assured that next door’s cat was very much alive when I let it go. Next door is a mile away and their cat has not bothered us since.

No I just dont get it

You have fox killing your animals, so you put out a live trap, and a stupid cat is daft enough to walk into it.... why does that make me an arsehole?

He didn't hurt the cat in any way (I presume). A fox trap is basically a steel basket with a sprung trap door in it. It causes no harm, but I imagine the cat wouldn't want to get caught in it again.

The way you worded it makes you sound an arsehole.

You could have said 'Unfortunatly nextdoors cat got trapped by mistake'

But you seem to take great joy in the fact that you where responsible for its possible death & because you don't like cats its ok.

I don't like Asians but i'd never set a trap in my garden incase 1 accidently walked into my garden

Maybe it did, if you want to read it like that. But that is the way if you have got animals/livestock to protect. Or is it ok for the cats to kill?
