As a bloke he comes across as a nice guy (note present tense as many here refer to him like in past tense liek he dead or something).

He couldn't cut it as a manager - fair do. He gone. We move on.

Completely against PERSONAL criticism. I have more respect for an individual and club I watched for 22 years to say anything vindictive like many on here do. I thank you

PS - bet many struggling for a moan now he gone, God forbid we blame sh!te performances on the pitch - as many of team we would have picked

I'm sad to see a decent man lose his job, but at the end of the day he just wasn't quite up to the task.</p>

I thank him for his efforts and wish him well.

funnily enough (pardon the pun) I'm not 23. 29 and watched them, and sang for them, for 22 years. Proud to do so and thank my dad for taking me so young and help catch the football bug.

Many would have picked the same team but

wouldn't have played the same tactics. Over complicated things for me too many times today being an example as soon as Reading worked out our tactics we weren't at the races and that was after 25mins. Davey just didn't change things around

Agree Richard - but wanted a thread that was about the guy not the manager. I'll be there at Watford.

would many have picked that team though?

How many people would have picked three strikers and played an unfit darren moore while the new signing sits on the bench?

    I feel sad tonight.

The Liverpool and Chelsea games were two of the most beautiful days of my life. I'll never, ever forget them, and I'll always be grateful to Simon Davey for bringing them about. The way he conducted himself after the attempted murder of Iain Hume will live long in the memory, too. Talking like a fan, with passion, with anger.

In general he wasn't up to it, though. It's a relief that the trigger's finally been pulled. Hopefully we can pull together as a fanbase now and get us out of this mess.

I wish Davey well, genuinely. Thankyou for the memories. I hope you have a successful career.

Onwards and upwards now with whoever the next incumbent is! This is a very good club, with some decent players and a fair number of fans waiting to come out of the woodwork at the merest sniff of success. I don't see why it isn't an attractive job.

Please, Patrick, get this decision right. You stuck by your man through thin and thinner. I think the days of us having a revolving manager's door are gone. It's been proven that, under Patrick Cryne, a manager will get both time and not inconsiderable resources - so there's no reason why a talented and high-profile manager shouldn't want to come to Barnsley.

    Here's hoping!
