Please, let's leave him to get on with the running of the club and overseeing the changes that need to take place to make us into an established Championship Club. There have been wholesale changes backstage. People have been introduced, like Dave Kelley, Sports Scientist, an established and proven full time fitness coach, analysis of computer generated fitness levels etc. Such things have been going on in other Clubs for a long time but we came into this sort of thing 'kicking and screaming' The current Management Team, when appointed, could not believe just how 'far behind' we were in the wholesale, general, running of a football club.I know that is a facr from what DK and SD told me. The changes that have been made are all Davey's doing, in conjunction with Cryne's 'say so' and with the full blessing of all who want BFC - our Club, to be successful. The Board knew they had, potentially, a hell of a future Manager. Whatever we all think and may argue about, this Board believes in him wholeheartedly. They are trusting him to get things right , both on and off the pitch. I am not surprised that he is being linked with Man Utd, no I am not, he has all the qualifications, but yes, he does need more 'practical awareness' Cryne is prepared to invest money in the players who Davey feels he needs. I for one, cannot understand why some people feel he is not good enough for the job. Everyone can state their right to opinionate and that's good. I love reading all the opinions on here. What I have written is just mine. I don't expect people to agree with how I see things and wouldn't want them to, to be honest. I have been totally and utterly baffled by some of Davey's signings, tactics, man management etc but I am still convinced he is the man for the job. I have to speak from my experience. All my dealings with him have been 100% successful He keeps his word, turns up for kids to interview him at times agreed, shows humour and patience and he really loves our club and wants to succeed here. He is always the consumate professional and I like to see this - it gives a better image of our Club - a Championship Club. I can understand why people are moaning. But, hell there are a loads of Managers out there who haven't got half the savvy of Simon Davey. Please don't think I am trying to state anything as FACT - I don't do that. I just think he will take us to the promised land. Give him a chance ........perleeeeeeeeeeeeease (dancin)
You have had a better time with him than I did You have one opinion and I have mine. I dont doubt that he has done some good things, but I found him to be a different person to you.
Good Post Tina I agree 99%. The other 1% refers to his practice of signing players then appearing to shut them out of things without anybody knowing why. I'm sure he had good reasons and I know it is difficult to go public on this type of thing but it sure is frustrating. Still, let's hope that is in the past now. Can't wait for us to get going.
Yep, gotta agree with Tina......... Well put across As you say people are entitled to their own opinions but to constantly slag him off does not help the cause of BFC We are all in this together so let's all be as one. Some people don't like Davey and they are entitled to that thought, but like it or love it he IS the manager of Barnsley Football Club. Get behind him, the team, the board as one
RE: an wot duz thar know?.... chuff! just like us all. Jack ****!! But its hanging fair to middling, a bit to the left today
RE: You have had a better time with him than I did I try not to judge on one meeting. That's not to say that you have had just the one. I have no idea on that score. It was baffling watching some of his decisions and subs throughut the season, let's face it. All I can speak for, is the many times I have dealt with him in one capacity or another. The last meeting we had with him was just before he went on holiday after the season ended and the Club signed Luke Steele that day. The kids 'captured' him outside Reception. We were told he was in there by Tony Swift the Kit Man for the Club and he came out to meet the children without a second thought and agreed there and then that they could come and interview him at 11am the following Tuesday in his office. He was there on the dot. Signed photos and offered to send someone to open our school fayre, if he couldn't get a player owing to holiday commitments not, he said he would do it himself. In the end Martin Devaney did the honours!. I think he's a top, top bloke and once again, I would re-iterate, he loves our Club and is highly ambitious. He truly believes he can get us back into the Premiership given time. The Board believes it too.
of course people should back him and stop moaning you are right. Moaning will do none of us any good. However your unquesting uncomprimising support might not be the healthiest. Come on Simon. We are all behind you. But don't get complacent we're not all like Tina!
Ha Ha Always rely on Conkotyke to disagree with me Don't you think I have a brain love? Don't you think I can't sieve through the wheat and the chaff and come up with what I believe, to post on here in an open way as a result of my own experiences with SD? There's nowt I have said that I have posted as a fact, apart from what I was told by SD. I don't give a hell's damn what you think in the end. Merely stating a view based on my own experiences. (neer)
Put it this way, SD as proven us all wrong with the performance last season, and kept us up the season before, until this season i refused to chant or sing his name but now he as my 100% backing i was gutted that he was being linked with the Man Utd job so it looks like he as a growing rep within the game, watch his name being touted around for the 'big' championship clubs and maybe a prem club when the sacking commences, i feel its about time the club got behind a manager too!
I'm afraid its going to take more than just Simon Davey to take us to the 'promised land'. It takes money, and lots of it. If i'm honest, the 'promised land' isn't all its cracked up to be anymore. Diving, cheating, corruption. It's not good honest solid football anymore. In fact, F**k the promised land. I'd rather have Simon Davey lead us into glory via the Cup...showing the 'big boys' that there is still some determination and pride in football. There's nothing wrong with being in the second division. COYR!
