    Did the club officially announce we nearly signed him?

    i would have thought he would be too good / expensive for us, but what do I know.

    Banged a load of goals in (24 in 34 games) for Pumas UNAM in Mexican top flight season before last, then signed for Almeria and played only a few games (2 starts, 6 sub, 1 goal) for them last season. Injured / not good enough for La Liga?

    Sounds like it would be a great signing if we pulled it off.

    It was on barnsley one that they had agreed a fee and a contract for him. Almeria pulled out last minute.
