It's an anti-bedroom tax protest so I hope someone listens; unfair and unjust.

    Seems they've been moved on.

Wonder who cleared it up the mess?

Some people are only bothered about stuff that affects them. If it happens to one of their's, they're up in arms, if it happens to strangers or poorer members of society, it's all **** and piss.

The thing with the bedroom tax is the savings to the government are absolutely miniscule, yet it has a massive impact on people's lives.

It's basically a case of pay up or move, but if you spent the last ten years or so in a property (maybe you weren't always on housing benefit) and have got it the way you like it, you're only option may be to move to another house with less bedrooms and start again. There will no doubt be carpets to buy, decorating to be done, and depending on how energy efficient it is the bills could be higher - I can understand why people are choosing to stay put.

    Literally in that park.

If it was our traveller freinds pulling the same tricks with regards to human waste there would be uproar.

While I don't necessarily agree with the bedroom tax there is the arguement that a large percentage of those affected by it live in properties bigger than their needs while families up and down the country live in cramped accommodation, get stuck with their parents etc unable to get a house from the local area authority big enough for their needs.

No one was bothered when I posted about having to pay council tax on an empty property that had no kitchen or bathroom. In fact, quite the opposite - I was near on lambasted by some for having the audacity to post such a thing. I'm now a selfish creature because of the BBS. My charity begins at home, with my Mrs and my little un.

Probably still the case. I think there's a survey feature, try it to check.

if people have a spare bedroom and do not want to pay the "tax" or receive "less benefit" (depends how you look at it, funny how dole wallers are saying they are being taxed when in reality they are being paid less benefit. Maybe because calling it a tax implies they are being hard done by), then simple, downsize, its not a big decision, downsize or lose about £56 a month in benefit if you still want to claim. Either that or the dole wallowing scroungers get a fecking job and pay rent/mortgage like most of the population.

Compassion is alive and well in South Yorkshire. Good post. You're right, moving house and everything else that entails is an easy decision to make. Fools the lot of them if they don't want to take your advice.

They don't receive it, the landlord does. It's just that they have to find it instead of the government. As for downsizing....where to? Most Councils don't have enough smaller properties (if any) to house them all in.

If we had proper council housing and hadn't sold em all off without replacing them then there wouldn't be a problem. Whatever benefits for housing was paid out it went back into the system via council rents. Now it goes to private landlords.

So true, my Mam is on her own in a 3 bed council semi with a big front and back gardens. She'd give it up tomorrow, if they would give her an accessible bungalow, but there aren't any. Fortunately she's of an age where the bedroom tax doesn't affect her.

If I remember correctly housing benefit is paid to the claimant who in turn pays it to a private landlord...

Also interestingly, there's a lot of private landlords in barnsley who refuse to let to someone on benefits. Why's that I wonder?

so what if the landlord receives it (Although I'm sure they now pay it to the tenant now and the tenant pays the rent), if the landlord has set the rent then they need to find the difference to pay the rent as agreed with the landlord at the beginning of the tenancy agreement, or as I say downsize, there is an abundance of 2 bedroom properties available to rent, which are believe it or not cheaper than 3 bedroom ones which they will either not need to find any money to top it up, or find a very small amount.

Fed up about hearing about how hard done by they are, make a choice and stop expecting your arse wiping

I agree mate, the Country is full of self serving bells, that only see the poorer people as plebs! Many of these people are sons and daughters of poorer parents and they are ashamed of them !
